We're hiring: Senior PowerBuilder Developer – Financial Markets

Location: Lisbon, Portugal

Work Model: Hybrid (2 days onsite)

Experience: 5+ years

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior PowerBuilder Developer to join a project within the Financial Markets sector.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, enhancing and maintaining enterprise applications built on the PowerBuilder platform. You will work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions in a demanding financial environment.

The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on PowerBuilder development experience with solid SQL knowledge and a good understanding of financial markets, financial instruments and the trade lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance and maintain applications using PowerBuilder.
• Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop, maintain and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures and database objects.
• Perform application debugging, troubleshooting and performance tuning.
• Provide production support and resolve application issues within agreed SLA timelines.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, project managers, QA teams and other technical teams.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
• Prepare technical documentation, design documents and deployment guides.
• Estimate development and enhancement efforts.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced developers when required.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as a PowerBuilder Developer.
• Strong knowledge of PowerScript, DataWindow and DataStores.
• Solid experience with relational databases and SQL, including stored procedures and query optimization.
• Proven experience working on Financial Markets projects.
• Understanding of financial instruments and the trade lifecycle.
• Experience in production support and troubleshooting within critical environments.
• Experience with Git for version control.
• Understanding of N-tier architectures.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Excellent documentation skills.
• C1 level of English, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

• Experience with recent PowerBuilder versions (2019/2022).
• Experience with application upgrades, migrations or modernization projects.
• Knowledge of web services and integrations (REST/SOAP, JSON/XML).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and CI/CD practices.
