Principal Ecologist

Gaia Talent is partnering with an established multidisciplinary environmental consultancy seeking an experienced Principal Ecologist to lead, develop and expand its ecology offering. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior ecological professional looking to combine technical leadership, team development and business growth within a well-established consultancy.

The Role:

• Lead, mentor and develop a growing team of ecological consultants.
• Provide technical oversight of EcIA, EIAR Biodiversity Chapters, AA Screening and Natura Impact Statements (NIS).
• Oversee protected species surveys, habitat assessments and ecological management plans.
• Manage complex ecological projects across infrastructure, energy, industrial and development sectors.
• Develop client relationships, support business development and contribute to tenders and proposals.
• Work closely with senior management to shape the future direction of the ecology service.

What We're Looking For:

• Minimum 10 years' experience in ecological consultancy.
• Strong technical expertise in Irish ecological assessments, legislation and planning requirements.
• Proven experience leading projects and mentoring ecological professionals.
• Commercial awareness and experience in client relationship management.
• CIEEM membership or equivalent professional recognition.
• Full driving licence.
