What you'll be doing…

This Principal Engineer will lead the processing of Trailing Credits for the VCG (National, Base Marketing), VBG, Accessory, and Prepaid business units. Leveraging expert-level command of SQL across Teradata, Oracle, and Google BigQuery, alongside reliable Python scripting capabilities, you will drive cash flow acceleration of over $1.6B between Android and Apple OEMs.

Acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for promotional data intelligence, you will partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Data and Analytics, Finance, Sourcing, Supply Chain, and Accounting. By validating complex datasets across PVFs, OMP, and GCP, you will build and maintain automated data pipelines that ensure invoice accuracy, align contracts with promotional offerings, reduce OEM reviews, and aggressively improve Monthly Sales Outstanding (MSO) targets.

• Writing highly complex, optimized SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze massive datasets across Teradata, Oracle, and Google BigQuery to support accurate and compliant Trailing Credits processing.
• Managing, troubleshooting, and performing upkeep on a library of over 20 existing Python automation and extraction scripts, operating within enterprise server environments.
• Integrating Single Source of Truth (SSOT) datasets into PVF and automated Invoicing scripts. Lead the transition and publication of AMPLIFI data into GCP for broader enterprise decision intelligence.
• Serving as the central data and product SME. Resolve data anomalies, identify pipeline bottlenecks, and provide actionable data intelligence to Senior Finance and Sourcing leadership.
• Leading the technical development of the OEM Funding Tracker module within AMPLIFI for National, Base Marketing, and VBG, working closely with software development teams.
• Developing required dashboards and visualizations to provide an end-to-end view of the Trailing Credits journey, customer promotional transactions, and forward/reverse logistics.
• Managing automated data processes for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities while ensuring strict adherence to Verizon internal checks and SOX controls.
• Providing technical guidance, SQL/Python best practices, and code review mentorship to offshore junior engineering resources.

What we're looking for…

You'll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
• Exceptional organizational skills with a proven track record of coordinating and managing multiple cross-divisional work processes and projects.
• Hands-on experience navigating Wireless Device promotional implementations, datasets, and telecom customer journeys.
• Strong understanding of financial operations, invoicing preparation, OEM reviews, and SOX compliance controls.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Bachelor's degree and/or six+ years of relevant work experience as a Data Engineer, Data Architect, or Senior Data Analyst (or equivalent military experience/specialized training).
• Eight or more years of extensive, hands-on experience querying, architecting, and optimizing data using Teradata, Oracle, and Google BigQuery. Expert-level SQL proficiency is strictly required.
• Working knowledge of Python programming sufficient to read, maintain, and execute 20+ existing scripts (advanced software engineering in Python is not required).
• Three or more years of hands-on experience navigating Wireless Device promotional implementations, datasets, and telecom customer journeys.
• Familiarity with Linux shell scripting for navigating server environments and assisting with automation tasks is considered a strong plus.
