Principal Engineer - Instrumentation

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Instrumentation Engineer to join a global engineering team and provide technical leadership in the design, development, and optimization of instrumentation solutions for industrial processes. The role is focused on driving technical excellence, shaping instrumentation standards, and supporting the most critical plant systems with a strong emphasis on reliability, safety, and long-term performance. Responsibilities include defining complex instrumentation strategies, guiding technical decisions, reviewing and improving engineering solutions, and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure high-quality project outcomes. This position is ideal for a senior technical expert who can influence direction, mentor others, and bring strong ownership to complex industrial engineering challenges.

Responsibilities:

• Lead Engineer for Instrumentation and control activities of the assigned project, and responsible for meeting the quality of deliverables and the schedule.
• Preparing and checking Instrumentation engineering deliverables like Control valve, PSV, Flow, Analyser, and control system specifications.
• Participation in P&ID, package, 3D model reviews, HAZOP, and SIL assessments/verification.
• Site supervision and handling of on-site instrumentation modifications.
• Inspection of instrumentation items like Thermocouples, Mist control unit, etc, FAT and SAT of control systems.
• Detailed engineering, Procurement of Topsoe scope of supply, Instrumentation, and Electrical items.

Requirements:

• Proficient in instrumentation sizing/selection (Conval, Engineering Base) across Basic, FEED, and EPC projects.
• Functional Safety Engineer certification preferred; hands-on with exSILentia or similar tool.
• Experience in procurement, inspection, and installation of field instruments.
• Experience of FAT / SAT, Commissioning of electrical equipment is an added advantage.
• Good knowledge of DCS, ESD/SIS, specifications/architecture.
• Well-versed in ISO, API, ISA, IEC/IES, CE, and NEC standards. Working knowledge of Electrical standards and hazardous area classification.
• Comfortable in multicultural environments with a willingness to travel (national/international), Strong collaboration, networking, and communication skills.
• Experience: 15 years or above.
• Bachelor's or Master's of Engineering –Instrumentation, Electrical or equivalent.
