About Archangel Capital Partners
Archangel Capital Partners is the leading defence-first venture capital firm investing in early-stage defence, national security technologies across Europe.
We back ambitious founders, most with direct experience in government or the military, in building technologies that address some of the most pressing security challenges facing NATO and allied nations. Our investment approach combines specialist venture capital expertise with deep relationships across the defence ecosystem, including military end-users, government agencies, defence primes, and strategic industry partners.
We take an active approach to investing. Beyond providing capital, we work closely with our portfolio companies to help them validate technologies with military customers, navigate defence procurement, secure operational trials and commercial partnerships, and scale internationally.
As European defence investment accelerates, we are expanding our presence in Central and Eastern Europe, with Poland serving as an important base for identifying and supporting the next generation of defence technology companies.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an exceptional Investment Manager or Principal to join our investment team, based in Poland.
This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in building Archangel's investment activities across Poland, Central and Eastern Europe, and the wider European defence technology ecosystem.
The successful candidate will identify promising founders and technologies, develop investment theses, lead due diligence, execute transactions and work closely with portfolio companies to accelerate their growth.
We are particularly interested in candidates who combine strong commercial and investment judgement with a genuine understanding of defence technology, military requirements and the evolving European security environment.
The position offers considerable autonomy, direct exposure to the firm's partners and investment decisions, and the opportunity to help shape Archangel's regional strategy. Responsibilities and investment leadership will reflect the successful candidate's experience.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Origination and Ecosystem Development
- Build and maintain a high-quality pipeline of early-stage defence and dual-use technology investment opportunities, with particular emphasis on Poland and Central and Eastern Europe.
- Develop relationships with founders, entrepreneurs, universities, research institutions, accelerators, venture capital firms and relevant government organisations.
- Establish and deepen relationships across the Polish and wider NATO defence ecosystem, including military stakeholders, defence procurement organisations and established defence contractors.
- Identify emerging technologies, capability gaps and market developments that could generate compelling investment opportunities.
Investment Evaluation and Execution
- Lead or support the full investment process, from initial screening and investment thesis development through due diligence, negotiation and closing.
- Assess companies across technology differentiation, team quality, market opportunity, military relevance, competitive positioning, commercial traction and investment returns.
- Conduct commercial, financial and strategic due diligence, including financial modelling, valuation analysis and assessment of financing requirements.
- Prepare clear, evidence-based investment memoranda and present recommendations to Archangel's investment committee.
- Work with founders, co-investors and external advisers on transaction structuring, documentation and execution.
Portfolio Development and Value Creation
- Work closely with portfolio company founders and management teams on strategy, fundraising, commercialisation and international expansion.
- Help portfolio companies access military end-users, government customers, operational testing opportunities and partnerships with defence primes.
- Support portfolio companies in navigating the complexities of defence procurement, technology adoption and scaling in regulated markets.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and contribute to follow-on investment and exit decisions.
- Where appropriate, represent Archangel as a board member or board observer.
Investment Strategy and Firm Development
- Contribute to Archangel's investment strategy, sector research and development of differentiated investment theses.
- Help establish Archangel as a leading specialist defence technology investor in Poland and the wider Central and Eastern European region.
- Represent the firm at relevant industry events, conferences and meetings with government, military and investment stakeholders.
- Support broader firm initiatives, including strategic partnerships, co-investor relationships and selected fundraising activities.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Relevant professional experience in venture capital, private equity, corporate development, investment banking, strategy consulting or a comparable investment-oriented role.
- Strong analytical and commercial judgement, with the ability to evaluate complex technologies, markets, business models and investment opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct due diligence, assess financial performance and communicate investment recommendations.
- A strong interest in defence, national security, emerging technologies and the European security environment.
- Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to engage credibly with founders, investors, senior executives and government stakeholders.
- An entrepreneurial mindset, intellectual curiosity and willingness to take ownership in a small, high-performing investment team.
- Professional fluency in English and Polish.
- Based in Poland, with the ability to travel regularly across Europe and occasionally internationally.
Highly Desirable
- Direct experience investing in venture-backed technology companies, particularly at pre-seed, seed or Series A.
- Experience within the defence industry, armed forces, government, intelligence community or defence technology ecosystem.
- An established network across Poland's technology, investment, defence or national security communities.
- Familiarity with defence procurement, military capability requirements and the commercialisation of technologies for government customers.
- Technical understanding of relevant areas such as autonomous systems, electronic warfare, sensing, communications, AI, space or other defence-enabling technologies.
- Experience working across international markets, particularly Central and Eastern Europe.
We value relevant experience and demonstrated judgement over specific academic credentials. Candidates from non-traditional backgrounds, particularly the military, engineering, government, and defence industry roles, are encouraged to apply.
Why Join Archangel?
- Meaningful impact: Invest in technologies addressing critical defence and national security challenges.
- Differentiated investment model: Work at the intersection of venture capital, emerging technology and operational military requirements.
- Early responsibility: Take ownership of investments and develop direct relationships with founders, co-investors and senior defence stakeholders.
- International exposure: Work alongside a distributed team investing across European and North American markets.
- Growth opportunity: Help shape Archangel's investment presence in one of Europe's most strategically important defence markets.
