Job Title: Purchasing Analyst
Job Overview: The Purchasing Analyst plays a crucial role in evaluating and optimizing a company’s procurement activities. This position involves analyzing purchasing data, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the acquisition of high-quality materials and services at competitive prices. The primary goal is to enhance procurement efficiency through data analysis, cost-saving initiatives, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Analysis:
Analyze purchasing data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Generate reports on procurement metrics, including cost, quality, delivery performance, and supplier compliance.
Monitor market conditions and price trends to forecast future pricing and potential cost reductions.
Supplier Management:
Evaluate supplier performance based on key criteria such as pricing, delivery times, and quality.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure optimal service and support.
Assist in supplier negotiations to secure favorable terms and conditions.
Cost Management:
Identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing and supplier consolidation.
Conduct total cost analysis, considering shipping, handling, and storage costs.
Support budget planning and cost forecasting related to procurement.
Process Improvement:
Evaluate current purchasing processes to identify opportunities for streamlining and automation.
Implement best practices in procurement to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate risks.
Collaborate with internal departments (finance, operations, logistics) to ensure smooth procurement processes.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements in procurement activities.
Prepare and present detailed procurement reports to management and stakeholders.
Maintain accurate records of all purchasing activities and transactions.
Strategic Planning:
Assist in developing and executing long-term procurement strategies aligned with the company’s goals.
Participate in cross-functional teams to drive strategic sourcing initiatives and projects.
Support inventory management by analyzing supply and demand trends to ensure adequate stock levels.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, finance, or a related field.
Experience: 2-4 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain management, or a similar analytical role.
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and make data-driven decisions.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data analysis tools, and ERP systems.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills to achieve favorable terms with suppliers.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify problems in procurement processes and propose effective solutions.
Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data analysis, reporting, and procurement activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP).
Experience with industry-related procurement tools or software.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and just-in-time (JIT) procurement processes.
Compensation:
This a full-time contractor position with an hourly rate of $6 - $8/hour (USD) based on experience and qualifications.
