Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Product Analyst to drive the optimization and expansion of our R&D digital ecosystem, centering on Benchling alongside key commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) scientific software. In this role, you will bridge the gap between bench science and digital execution, collaborating closely with bench scientists, laboratory automation engineers, software developers, and external vendors. Your core mission is to streamline bioanalytical assay lifecycles, eliminate operational bottlenecks through process digitization, and ensure our lab informatics platforms deliver measurable scientific value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Discovery & Backlog Ownership:
  • Partner with Product Managers, UX researchers, and technical architects to evaluate product desirability, technical feasibility, operational viability, and business value. Translate high-level operational needs into clear, structured functional requirements, epics, and engineering-ready user stories.
  • Scientific Workflow Engineering & Automation Intake:
  • Map existing and target-state bioanalytical processes, systematically identifying automation opportunities across high-throughput screening and automated assay candidates. Guide experimental workflows through formal evaluation, backlog grooming, and prioritized technical delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Lab Systems Enablement:
  • Serve as the primary functional specialist for Benchling and adjacent laboratory systems (ELN, LIMS, SDMS). Facilitate technical discussions between laboratory researchers and automation teams to establish clean data flows, instrument interfaces, and software integrations.
  • Quality Assurance, Validation & Deployment Support:
  • Drive testing governance across validation efforts for regulated bioanalytical pipelines. Build test cases, coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), oversee regression coverage, and ensure end-to-end traceability utilizing Jira, Confluence, and Xray through final hypercare and go-live.
  • Documentation & Delivery Governance:
  • Author and maintain SDLC-compliant documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), system specifications, and onboarding toolkits to support platform adoption across global research units. Provide targeted project oversight to keep sprints, milestones, and deliverables on schedule.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

  • Core Domain & Systems Experience:
  • Demonstrated experience as a Product Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, or Systems Analyst within biotech, pharma, or life sciences R&D environments. Hands-on configuration, workflow design, or operational mastery of Benchling is essential.
  • Bioanalytical & Assay Familiarity:
  • Sound comprehension of biological assay lifecycle mechanics, laboratory instrumentation, and automated assay data processing.
  • Process Modeling & Discovery:
  • Demonstrated capability in "as-is" vs. "to-be" process modeling, gap identification, root-cause diagnostics, and structured requirements elicitation.
  • Project & Backlog Orchestration:
  • Practical background navigating agile product delivery cycles (Scrum/Kanban), handling milestone prioritization, tracking deliverables, and orchestrating cross-functional teams.
  • Testing & Tooling Stack:
  • Direct hands-on experience authoring user stories and managing test traceability using Jira, Xray, and Confluence.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Management:
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills, with proven agility in translating complex scientific requirements into clear technical specifications for engineering squads.
