The Role

At Sovos, we're looking for an Associate Product Manager who will support product strategy and execution for a product area whilst taking on Product Owner responsibilities day to day. AI fluency is a core part of this role. You'll own the backlog, write sprint-ready stories, and leverage AI tools daily to research, analyse, draft, and prototype faster and more effectively. This is a global posting for India.

More specifically, you will:

• Own and prioritise the product backlog; keep it groomed two sprints ahead and write Jira stories with clear user story, context, acceptance criteria (Given/When/Then), and explicit out-of-scope details.
• Run sprint planning, refinement, and demos with engineering, QA, and design; accept or reject delivered work against acceptance criteria and coordinate UAT and release readiness.
• Support the Senior Product Manager on roadmaps, PRDs, and business cases; analyse usage data, support tickets, and customer feedback to identify problems worth solving.
• Work with customer success and sales to turn customer requests into validated requirements; track delivery, risks, and dependencies and report status clearly and honestly.
• Use AI tools (Claude or similar) daily for research, synthesis, drafting PRDs and stories, and analysing data; build repeatable AI workflows such as story-drafting templates or connected tools to save team time.
• Turn ideas into clickable prototypes or small internal tools using AI-assisted design or coding tools; demonstrate AI product sense by understanding LLM limits and specifying AI features with evaluation criteria and fallback behaviour.

What You Bring to Sovos

• You've built solid experience (typically 2–3 years) in product, business analysis, or product ownership, with prior hands-on experience as both a Product Owner and in a product management role.
• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum and Jira (epics, stories, sprints, boards); you're comfortable managing backlogs and running agile ceremonies.
• Clear, concise written communication skills; you can write acceptance criteria an engineer cannot misread and deliver status updates that are honest and actionable.
• Comfortable with data: you can read a dashboard and use analytics tools to answer product questions; you bring an ownership mindset and follow through without being chased.
• AI fluency is essential: you use AI tools daily, write structured prompts, catch hallucinations and weak reasoning, and understand data-privacy risks; you can show real examples of building AI workflows, rapid prototyping, and responsible AI use with company-approved tools.
• Domain knowledge in tax, compliance, or fintech is a plus, as is experience with UI prototyping tools, design systems, or evaluating and shipping AI-powered features.
• Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check upon hire.
