About the role
Outerlimit is looking for a highly technical Product Marketing Manager to own positioning, messaging, and go-to-market for our technical products and platform capabilities. This role sits at the intersection of Product Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, and the CTO's office - you'll need to genuinely understand how our systems work, not just how to talk about them. You'll translate architecture, APIs, and technical roadmap decisions into positioning, content, and enablement that sales, customers, and the market can actually use.
This isn't a generalist marketing role. You'll be expected to read technical documentation and architecture diagrams unassisted, hold your own in a room with engineers and the CTO, and push back on technical claims that don't hold up - while also being an exceptional communicator who can distil that complexity for less technical audiences.
Key responsibilities
- Own positioning and messaging for Outerlimit's technical products, translating architecture and technical capability into clear, differentiated value propositions.
- Act as the connective tissue between Product Management, Engineering, and the CTO, attending technical roadmap and architecture reviews, and turning what you learn into go-to-market plans.
- Partner directly with the CTO on external technical narrative: talking points, conference content, analyst briefings, and technical thought leadership.
- Lead go-to-market for technical and platform releases: launch plans, sales enablement, positioning docs, and customer-facing technical content.
- Build and maintain sales enablement materials that hold up under technical scrutiny: competitive battlecards, technical datasheets, whitepapers, and FAQ documents.
- Translate customer and market feedback into structured input for the product roadmap, working with Product Management to prioritise what's driving deals or churn.
- Support technical due diligence conversations with prospects, customers, and analysts, either directly or by equipping sales/solutions teams to handle them.
- Develop technical content (blog posts, webinars, demo scripts, and documentation-adjacent material) that is accurate enough to publish without an engineering rewrite.
- Track and report on competitive positioning in the technical landscape, keeping the business honest about where Outerlimit's technology genuinely differentiates.
What you'll bring
- 3-5 years in product marketing, technical marketing, or a closely adjacent role (e.g. solutions engineering or technical product management with a marketing tilt), ideally in B2B SaaS or a technical/platform product.
- Demonstrably technical: comfortable reading API docs, architecture diagrams, and engineering specs, and able to ask engineers informed follow-up questions rather than nodding along.
- A track record of working directly with engineering leadership and executives, not just sales and design - including holding your ground in technical conversations.
- Strong writing skills, with the ability to flex between deeply technical content and accessible, business-facing messaging depending on audience.
- Experience building sales enablement and competitive intelligence that technical buyers and technical sales teams actually trust.
- Confident presenting to and influencing senior technical stakeholders, including at C-level.
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity and owning outcomes across multiple functions without a rigid handoff process.
Nice to have
- Prior hands-on experience as a software engineer, solutions engineer, or technical product manager.
- A CS degree, bootcamp background, or equivalent self-taught technical depth.
- Experience marketing developer tools, APIs, infrastructure, or platform products specifically.
- Experience supporting analyst relations (Gartner, Forrester, or similar).
What we offer
- Hybrid (New York office, 2+ days per week) with flexibility around core hours.
- Direct access to and regular working time with the CTO and engineering leadership - this role is deliberately not siloed in marketing.
- Ownership of go-to-market for Outerlimit's most technically complex products.
- The standard Outerlimit benefits package (details shared during the interview process).
Our values
- Seek the truth: We're deeply curious, and we don't settle for the easy answer. Clarity beats comfort.
- We own it: No job too small, no job too big. If it needs doing, we don't wait to be asked.
- Never complacent: We aspire to relentless improvement.
- Do the right thing: Especially when it's hard. Especially when no one's watching. Especially under pressure.
