Product Owner/Business Analyst

We are looking for an experienced Product Owner / Business Analyst to join a cross-functional team developing a next-generation ERP and Accounting platform.

In this role, you will be responsible for maximizing the value delivered by the development team and acting as the key link between finance Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and the delivery team. You will translate complex accounting, financial, and operational workflows into clear product requirements, a prioritized backlog, and actionable development initiatives.

You will work closely with accountants, finance controllers, auditors, developers, QA, UX/UI specialists, and project stakeholders to ensure that delivered solutions meet customer needs, business objectives, and quality standards.

This role requires a combination of product ownership, business analysis, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to operate effectively in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Product Owner, or 3–5 years of experience in a similar Business Analyst/Product Owner role within a Scrum environment.

• Proven experience delivering complex IT/software products, preferably within the ERP, accounting, or finance domain.

• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum frameworks and the full software/product development lifecycle.

• Experience working with cross-functional and distributed development teams.

• Proven experience collaborating with multiple SMEs, such as accountants, finance controllers, and auditors.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable product requirements.

• Hands-on experience creating high-quality user stories, acceptance criteria, and product documentation.

• Strong prioritization and decision-making skills, including the ability to make trade-offs, reduce scope when necessary, and make decisions under uncertainty.

• Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of transparency and stakeholder alignment.

• Practical experience with Azure DevOps and Miro.

• Proficiency in using AI tools in day-to-day work.

• Familiarity with UX principles and user-centered product development.

• Understanding of API-based systems and integrations, particularly within ERP ecosystems.

• Data-driven approach to product development and decision-making.

Nice to have:

• Hands-on domain experience with ERP or Accounting systems.

• Understanding of core accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, period-end close, and multi-entity reporting.

• Familiarity with Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) as a collaborative approach to defining and validating new domains or implementation phases.

• Professional certification such as CBAP, PSPO, or equivalent.

Main responsibilities:

• Work closely with finance and accounting SMEs to define and scope upcoming implementation phases.

• Translate business needs and complex domain requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and product documentation.

• Understand, communicate, and support the client's product vision, strategy, and roadmap.

• Manage and prioritize the product backlog, balancing business value, customer needs, technical constraints, dependencies, and delivery risks.

• Build alignment across diverse stakeholders and drive decisions that enable the team to move forward with the next actionable piece of work.

• Collaborate closely with the client, development team, UX/UI, QA, and Scrum Master/Project Manager throughout the product development lifecycle.

• Accept or reject completed work based on agreed acceptance criteria and business expectations.

• Support the testing and validation process to ensure delivered features meet functional and quality requirements.

• Introduce new product domains and implementation phases using Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) and structured examples as a collaborative way of working.

• Participate actively in sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, demos, and other Agile ceremonies.

• Identify and manage dependencies and proactively mitigate delivery risks.

• Report on delivered work and communicate outcomes to stakeholders, maintaining transparency and visibility of progress against the roadmap.

• Use data, customer feedback, and KPIs to identify and drive product improvements in alignment with the client.
