Job Description

Production Lead | Live Spoken Word Events | London | Permanent

Are you an experienced live events professional with excellent operational and interpersonal skills, who loves bringing productions to life? This Production Lead role, based in London, could be a great next step if you're ready to take ownership of an exciting and growing USA cultural events programme, working with leading voices in culture, entertainment and ideas.

Our partner: Our partner is an established and growing international live events business, bringing influential voices from the worlds of arts, entertainment, literature and academia to audiences across the globe. From intimate conversations to large-scale theatre events and national tours, they combine thoughtful cultural programming with high-quality production.

Responsibilities: You will take ownership of the production and operational delivery of a varied USA-based events programme, managing everything from initial planning through to show day and final financial reconciliation. Working closely with the programming and operations teams, you will ensure each event runs smoothly, whether you are overseeing delivery remotely from London or attending in person.
  • Event Production & Delivery: Lead the planning and execution of live events and multi-city tours, overseeing technical specifications, production schedules, show-day operations, artist hospitality and on-site teams.
  • Venue & Supplier Management: Source and assess venues across the USA, to ensure each venue meets the technical, capacity and audience requirements of the event.
  • Staffing & Freelance Coordination: Recruit, brief and oversee local teams, while managing relevant insurance, compliance and artist travel requirements.
  • Talent, Ticketing & Event Logistics: Oversee the preparation of talent contracts, event briefs, travel itineraries and ticketing arrangements, working closely with the operations coordinator.
  • Budgeting & Financial Management: Create, monitor and reconcile event budgets, managing supplier costs and ensuring financial accountability throughout the production process.
Experience and skills that will deliver success in this role: We're looking for an organised and proactive live ticketed events production professional, who excels at taking the lead and making things happen. You'll be comfortable managing multiple events at different stages, building strong relationships with venues and suppliers, and making sound decisions under pressure. You'll communicate clearly, anticipate challenges and take a practical, solutions-focused approach to delivering successful events.

Essential:
  • Solid experience in live event production, ideally within literary, cultural, entertainment or spoken-word events, including experience working in a structured, full-time, in-house production environment.
  • Proven experience managing multi-date tours and large-scale, one-off events, with the ability to oversee several productions simultaneously.
  • Strong technical understanding of live event production, including audio, lighting, staging and venue specifications, alongside experience negotiating with venues and suppliers.
  • Experience building, managing and reconciling event budgets and the confidence to lead on operational decisions.
  • Availability to work hours aligned with USA time zones, including occasional evenings and weekends and eligibility and willingness to travel to the USA for work.
Desirable:

  • Established relationships with venues, production suppliers or freelance crews in the USA market.
  • Familiarity with USA venue operations, including union requirements, insurance and compliance.
  • Knowledge of international touring logistics, including production advancing, technical riders and coordinating remote production teams.
The opportunity: This is an unusual opportunity for an experienced live events professional to lead a prestigious international programme. You'll be involved in a varied mix of events working with an ambitious and supportive team that values creativity, collaboration and high production standards. With the opportunity to develop relationships across the USA live events industry, travel internationally and play an important role in a growing programme, this position offers plenty of scope to make an impact while developing your production career.

What’s on offer:
  • Salary: £38–£40k, DOE.
  • Working pattern: Permanent, full-time position based in London, with hybrid working according to business needs. Core hours of 12pm - 8pm UK time to align with USA time zones, with flexibility required for evening and weekend events and occasional travel to the USA.
  • Reports to: International Events Programmer.
