Closes: 19 November 2026

Classification: Professional Officer Class 2

Salary: $102,657 - $116,592 plus superannuation

Position No: 23537

Directorate: Education

Advertised (Gazettal date): 05 November 2026

Contact Officer: Delphine Coutin on Delphine.Coutin@act.gov.au or (02) 6207 1105

Details: The Education and Care, Regulation and Support (ECRS) Branch regulates and supports over 370 education and care services, 600 home-educated resident children, 49 non-government schools, and five ACT school CRICOS providers.

ECRS is seeking a candidate dedicated to protecting children and young people in the ACT through the risk assessment and auditing of Early Childcare Education and Care and non-government school sectors. Ideally, we are searching for a candidate who has experience in conducting physical environment and documentary audits in a regulatory environment.

This role will require the candidate to be emersed in the legislation, create balanced assessments using strong administrative decision making, while professionally representing the Regulatory Authority with members of the public.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

Eligibility/Other Requirements

  • An existing working knowledge of the Education and Care Services National Law (ACT), the Education Act 2004 or the Children and Young People Act 2008 is highly desirable.
  • The ability to move between sites (e.g. the office and a site visit), sometimes at short notice, is a key part of this role.
  • Experience in a Regulatory context is highly desirable.

Note: An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.

Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.

Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.

This position is located in a workplace designated for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.

How to Apply: Applicants should provide a written response of no more than two pages, explicitly connecting their experience to the Professional, Technical and Behavioural Skills outlined in the Position Description. Please also attached a detailed curriculum vitae.

Applications should be submitted via the Apply Now button below.

Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service.

The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved. More information can be found here ACT Closing the Gap Implementation Plan - ACT Government Transparency Portal.
