Program Coordinator (Unpaid Volunteer)

Stitching Empowerment Verein (SEVA) | Vienna, Austria | Hybrid (in-person events in Vienna, remote coordination)

Program area: [Arts / Gender Empowerment / General]

Organization Description:

Stitching Empowerment is a Vienna-based NGO focused on empowering women and marginalized communities through handcraft and creative activities. The organization provides inclusive spaces where people can build skills, connect with others, and experience personal growth. Its programs center on capacity building, skills development, and community strengthening to promote social inclusion and self-confidence. By combining creativity with practical support, Stitching Empowerment aims to foster sustainable empowerment and stronger community bonds for participants.

Role Description:

The Program Coordinator Volunteer will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of Stitching Empowerment’s handcraft and community-building programs. This volunteer role is hybrid, based in Vienna, Austria, with some tasks that can be completed from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include organizing workshop schedules, maintaining participant and volunteer lists, and communicating program details to participants.

The coordinator will support outreach activities, and help ensure sessions run smoothly, including preparing materials and spaces. The role also involves collecting feedback, contributing to program improvement, and collaborating with team members to strengthen community engagement. Programs have two areas of focus: arts workshops and gender empowerment trainings. When applying, please indicate if there is an area of interest.

Program area focus

  • Arts: You will coordinate (and lead if applicable) crochet, knitting, and other craft workshops, work with instructors, and help organize creative community events. You do not need to know how to craft to help coordinate.
  • Gender Empowerment: You will coordinate (and lead if applicable) empowerment trainings, panels, and community sessions for women, with attention to a safe, welcoming space.
  • General: You will support SEVA’s full mix of workshops, events, and partnerships and step in where the team needs you most.

What you bring

  • Experience in program coordination, event planning, project management, or nonprofit and volunteer work
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep several projects moving at once
  • Clear, friendly communication with participants, partners, and teammates
  • Fluent English; German is a plus
  • Commitment to equality, inclusion, and community
  • Strong drive to take initiative and want to build your own projects
  • Interest in crafts is welcome, and craft skills are not required

What you get

  • Hands-on experience running real programs at a young, growing nonprofit
  • A reference or LinkedIn recommendation after a successful term
  • Flexible, remote-friendly work around your schedule
  • A supportive team of volunteers and a founder who values your ideas
  • Real ownership: your work will shape how our programs run

Time commitment

Our organization runs on deliverable-based commitment.

For Programs: Attend one SEVA event every 2 months and plan or lead one event every 3 months, plus 5 hours per week for coordination tasks, with occasional evening or weekend events in Vienna.
