Overview

Join our team as a Project Manager supporting the Federal Highway Administration by overseeing a busy publications and communications program. You will oversee planning, staffing, and delivery of technical publications, marketing materials, and multimedia products from concept to final release, ensure on-time, on-budget performance across a diverse portfolio of projects.

**Position is contingent upon contract award**

Work Schedule and Location:

Hybrid: This full-time hybrid position will work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET, with approximately two days per week on-site (Monday through Thursday) at a client facility in McLean, VA or Washington, DC. Some travel within the continental U.S. may be required for conferences and events.

Responsibilities

  • Management of a portfolio of complex, high-visibility publications and communications projects
  • Strategic planning, resource allocation, scheduling, and budget performance across multiple concurrent projects
  • Point of contact with government contracting and technical representatives, task managers, and researchers
  • Oversee the production of materials ranging from one-page flyers to 300+ page technical reports, presentations, video, and social media content
  • Supervise a multidisciplinary team of writers, editors, designers, and web and multimedia specialists
  • Manage risk, quality control, and performance metrics, and deliver regular progress reporting to government stakeholders
  • Ensure project status is tracked accurately in the client's submission and tracking system

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Marketing/Communications, or a related discipline (additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, including leadership of multidisciplinary teams and management of marketing/communications programs
  • Demonstrated experience managing the production of technical publications, from short-form materials to long-form technical reports
  • Experience supporting highway or surface transportation programs or clients

Desired:

  • Experience managing federal government contracts or task orders
  • Experience managing a periodical or magazine production cycle
  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility and federal publishing standards (GPO and Chicago style)
