Organisation/Entity: Sydney Metro
Job category: Projects
Job location:
Sydney, NSW, AU, 2000
Job reference number: 111704
Employment type: Fixed Term Full-Time
Salary range: $209358.0-$214639.0
You may have been part of some big projects before, but this work is legacy-building.
You have the opportunity to gain a wealth of expertise and a diverse range of skills, providing insight and knowledge without losing sight of your work-life balance or wellbeing.
In this role, you'll:
Play a key role in supporting the delivery of Sydney Metro West by acquiring adjoining land rights and undertaking other property transactions required to enable major construction activities. Working closely with project delivery teams, you will coordinate access to land, negotiate temporary rights arrangements and ensure property-related activities are aligned with critical project milestones and the relevant legislation. The role is responsible for managing complex adjoining land rights transactions and acquisitions that support the successful delivery of Sydney Metro projects.
You will work directly with landowners, valuers, legal advisers and finance stakeholders to progress negotiations, obtain approvals and facilitate agreements that enable construction works to proceed. A significant part of the role involves preparing and managing offers for temporary property rights, coordinating valuation advice and ensuring all transactions are managed in accordance with government policy, legislative requirements and established governance processes. The role also works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver adjoining land rights outcomes and manage associated risks.
While the position includes the management of a Grade 9 team member, this is a hands-on delivery role rather than a large-scale leadership position. You will be actively involved in the day-to-day management of property transactions, stakeholder engagement, risk mitigation and commercial negotiations, providing practical solutions to support the delivery of one of Australia's most significant infrastructure programs.
This is a fixed term full time role until 31st December 2027.

About You
You are an experienced property professional with extensive experience managing property acquisitions, adjoining land rights or complex property transactions, ideally within a government or major infrastructure environment. You have a strong understanding of acquisition processes, statutory requirements and the practical challenges of securing property rights to support large-scale project delivery.
Highly organised and exceptionally detail-oriented, you enjoy managing multiple transactions and competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and quality. You are confident preparing approval documentation, coordinating specialist advice and navigating governance processes, knowing that attention to detail can have a significant impact on project outcomes.
You are also a skilled relationship builder who can work effectively across a broad stakeholder group. Whether negotiating with landowners, partnering with project delivery teams, engaging valuers, or collaborating with legal and finance specialists, you bring a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach that helps achieve positive outcomes while balancing commercial, community and project needs.
