Project Risk Lead
North West Transmission Development
Full-Time
About Genus Group
Genus is a leading national service provider delivering end-to-end solutions across energy and telecommunications infrastructure. Our work supports Australia's major utilities, resources, and renewables sectors. We're proud to contribute to critical infrastructure that powers the nation. Safely, reliably, and sustainably.
The Opportunity
Genus is head contractor for Stage 1 of TasNetworks' North West Transmission Developments (NWTD), the largest transmission project in Tasmania's history. Stage 1 delivers 129 km of new and upgraded transmission line, new substations and a switching station between Cressy and Burnie, and construction is now underway.
We're looking for a Project Risk Lead to own risk and contingency management on the project. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you'll turn uncertainty into clear, quantified information that helps the project team and our client make better decisions. You'll lead the risk framework, run risk workshops, model schedule and cost risk, and give clear risk reporting to project leadership and TasNetworks.
We are supportive of remote/hybrid working arrangements for interstate applicants, with some travel to/from Tasmania expected from time to time.
Key Responsibilities
GenusPlus Group is committed to building an inclusive workforce and creating a work environment that promotes equity and respects individual differences. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, women, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

If you're ready to take the next step in your career, click Apply Now and submit your CV and cover letter.
Should you require a further position description or any other information about the role, please feel free to contact Declan.Cuthbertson@genus.com.au.

- Plan and facilitate risk and opportunity workshops at key project stages, challenging assumptions with engineering, construction, procurement and commercial leads.
- Build and run quantitative schedule and cost risk analysis (QRA), producing P50/P90 outcomes to inform contingency.

- Quantify risk in variations, change proposals and subcontract awards, and work with the Commercial Manager on notice and claims exposure.
- Prepare monthly risk reporting for the Project Director, Genus leadership and TasNetworks, and lead joint risk reviews with the client.

- Sound knowledge of AS ISO 31000 and recognised contingency management methods.
- Confident facilitator who can explain risk clearly to senior leaders and site teams.
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly to sites across North West Tasmania.
- Experience on linear utility infrastructure projects.
- PMI-RMP or RES Contingency Management Professional (CMP) certification.
- Experience with joint client-contractor risk processes under alliance, ECI or target-cost arrangements.
- Working knowledge of project planning, earned value, and cost and commercial management.
- Understanding of construction contracts, including notices, variations, delay claims and time-bars.
- An opportunity to work on a nationally significant energy project.
- A collaborative project culture with high safety and technical standards.
- Hybrid, FIFO or local project arrangements with attractive remuneration.
- The chance to shape the risk function on Tasmania's largest transmission build, with career development across Genus's national project pipeline.
