The role

The Projects and Programme Delivery (PPD) team deliver a wide range of projects and programmes from a portfolio that includes; Flood Risk Management, Reservoir Compliance, Hydrometry and Telemetry upgrades, Fisheries improvements, Land Stewardship Infrastructure schemes, and the Metal Mines programme.

As a Support Officer within the PDP Business Team, you will provide essential financial, administrative, and organisational support to Project Managers, Project Executives, and the wider team. Your contribution will help ensure the successful delivery of projects across Wales, undertaking delegated tasks and supporting project teams throughout the project lifecycle.

You will process contractual documentation and financial transactions through Asite and MyNRW, assisting with the delivery of project activities, helping to maintain strong governance, and promoting best practice across the portfolio.

The PPD team deliver a wide range of projects and programmes from a portfolio that includes; Flood Risk Management, Reservoir Compliance, Hydrometry and Telemetry upgrades, Fisheries improvements, Land Stewardship Infrastructure schemes, and the Metal Mines programme.

You will be joining a supportive, forward-thinking team that values collaboration, innovation, and flexible working. There is an expectation to work two days a week from the office (preferably Cathays Park 2 in Cardiff but other NRW offices will be considered) a hybrid working pattern can be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

Travel to our construction sites is essential for this role. Generally, these are remote and with no close public transport links. In addition, you will be required to carry equipment and PPE to gain access to the sites therefore you must hold a full and current UK driving license.

Successful applicants will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) check. Appointments are normally made within 4 to 8 weeks of the closing date.

Your Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge And Skills

In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method.

  • Previous experience in a Finance / Administration type role, an AAT qualification (or similar) is desirable.
  • The ability to work unsupervised and to manage and prioritise a busy workload and deliver results to timescales.
  • Self-motivation and intuition.
  • Ability to communicate effectively internally and with external stakeholders, demonstrating a strong customer focus.
  • Strong ability to analyse and interpret information is essential. Experience of Asite and MyNRW is desirable.
  • Ability to work confidently with data and information and to present findings using the MS Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Knowledge of Power BI is desirable.

  • Essential: Level A1 - Entry level
