Join CTSA as a full-time Clinical Fellow and build your caseload, clinical confidence, and areas of specialization with employer-paid supervision, consistent referrals, W-2 benefits, and access to advanced clinical training and professional development as you work toward independent licensure.
Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Therapist / Clinical Fellow (LGPC, LMSW, LGMFT, PA) - Full-Time
The Center for Trauma, Stress, and Anxiety (CTSA) is hiring pre-licensed mental health therapists (PA, LGPC, LMSW, and LGMFT) for our Maryland outpatient practice.
We think the first few years after graduate school matter, a lot.
This is when you start figuring out how to move beyond theory and actually become a therapist. You learn how to sit with complexity, what to do when therapy gets stuck, how to use supervision well, how to conceptualize beyond the presenting problem, and what kinds of clinical work you want to become really good at.
We want CTSA to be a place where you can do that.
You'll have employer-paid clinical supervision, a consistent caseload, experienced clinicians to learn from, and access to substantial training and consultation opportunities while you work toward independent licensure.
Compensation & Benefits:
CTSA Clinical Fellows are W-2 fee-for-service employees. This is not a salaried position.
- Estimated annual clinical earnings: $54,000–$60,000 at full-time productivity, based on experience and CTSA compensation tier
- Full-time expectation of approximately 25 completed clinical hours per week
- Compensation is earned based on completed clinical work
- Employer-paid clinical supervision toward independent licensure
- Health benefits for eligible full-time employees
- 401(k) with up to a 4% employer match
- Paid time off
- Flexible scheduling
- Hybrid in-person and telehealth practice
- Consistent referrals and caseload-building support
- Credentialing, billing, collections, intake, marketing, EHR, and administrative infrastructure provided by CTSA
- Access to clinical training, continuing education, consultation, and professional development opportunities at no cost
- Clear opportunity for compensation growth as you develop professionally and progress into independent licensure
Compare the Whole Package
Compensation in group practice can be confusing, especially early in your career. A higher advertised hourly or per-session rate isn't always a better compensation package. Contractor positions may require clinicians to pay self-employment taxes, purchase their own benefits, pay for supervision, generate their own referrals, or take on expenses and administrative responsibilities that aren't obvious in the advertised rate.
At CTSA, you're a W-2 employee. Your employment package includes employer-paid supervision, health benefits for eligible employees, PTO, a 4% employer 401(k) match, consistent referrals, billing and credentialing support, office and technology infrastructure, and access to free professional development and CEs.
When you're comparing opportunities, we encourage you to compare the whole package, not just the number attached to a clinical hour.
Build Expertise, Not Just Hours
Getting the hours you need for independent licensure matters. But we don't think those years should be only about getting your hours.
CTSA is building a more intentional pathway for clinicians who want to develop real areas of expertise. In 2027, CTSA will begin launching postgraduate fellowship and specialization opportunities, including structured pathways focused on trauma and anxiety treatment.
Participation in these opportunities is not required as a condition of employment. They're being built for clinicians who want more opportunities to learn, specialize, and deepen their clinical work.
Depending on your interests and stage of development, opportunities may include:
- Advanced clinical training and continuing education
- Trauma-focused education and consultation
- Anxiety and exposure-based treatment education
- Case consultation with experienced clinicians
- Clinical seminars and focused learning experiences
- Exposure to evidence-informed and complementary treatment approaches
- Mentorship and professional consultation
- Opportunities to develop an area of clinical specialization
- Postgraduate fellowship and specialty pathway opportunities as these programs launch
You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what kind of therapist you want to become. You also don't need to arrive already trained in every specialty we offer. We care much more about whether you're curious, thoughtful, receptive to feedback, and serious about developing your clinical skills.
Supervision Should Help You Become a Better Therapist
CTSA provides employer-paid clinical supervision toward independent licensure.
We want supervision to be more than reporting what happened in your sessions and collecting a signature for your hours. Good supervision should help you think. It should give you somewhere to bring the case you can't quite figure out, the client who isn't getting better, the intervention that didn't land, or the moment in session that stayed with you afterward.
We expect our early-career clinicians to ask questions, bring difficult cases into supervision, receive feedback, and gradually develop greater clinical judgment and independence.
You See Clients. We Build the Infrastructure Around You.
Building a caseload shouldn't require you to simultaneously become an expert in insurance credentialing, billing, collections, marketing, and running a business.
CTSA provides:
- Consistent client referrals
- Intake and scheduling support
- Insurance credentialing
- Billing and collections
- Marketing and practice development
- EHR and technology infrastructure
- Furnished professional office space
- Administrative and operational support
- Clinical consultation and professional community
That gives you more room to focus on your clients and your development as a therapist.
Clinical Work at CTSA
CTSA is an outpatient mental health practice specializing in trauma, stress, anxiety, and related concerns.
Our clinicians work with a wide range of presenting concerns, and we're especially interested in developing expertise in areas such as:
- Trauma and PTSD
- Anxiety disorders
- OCD and exposure-based treatment
- Attachment and relational concerns
- EMDR
- Somatic and body-based approaches
- Neurodivergence
- Integrative mental health
- Other trauma- and anxiety-related specialties
We value thoughtful case conceptualization, strong therapeutic relationships, evidence-informed care, and clinicians who are willing to stay curious when the obvious intervention isn't working.
Who We're Looking For
You may be a good fit if you:
- Hold or are eligible to hold an active Maryland LGPC, LMSW, or LGMFT, or PA license
- Want to build toward approximately 25 completed clinical sessions/points per week
- Are looking for quality clinical supervision as you work toward independent licensure
- Take documentation, ethics, and clinical responsibility seriously
- Are receptive to feedback and willing to ask for help when you need it
- Want to continue developing your clinical skills after graduate school
- Can work independently while also being part of a clinical team
- Are willing to provide both in-person and telehealth services based on client and practice needs
- Are interested in trauma, anxiety, or developing another area of clinical specialization
Prior specialty training is welcome, but not required and certainly not expected. We're hiring clinicians with the capacity and motivation to develop, not expecting someone at the beginning of their career to already practice like a clinician who's been doing this for ten years.
What Happens After Independent Licensure?
We don't want independent licensure to be the point when you realize you have to leave your practice in order to grow. CTSA's compensation structure provides a pathway to higher clinical compensation as clinicians progress into independently licensed compensation tiers.
As your career develops, there may also be opportunities to deepen a specialty or move into areas such as:
- Clinical supervision
- Mentorship
- Training and continuing education
- Program development
- Senior clinical roles
- Clinical leadership
Those paths aren't mandatory, and they don't happen automatically. They're opportunities for clinicians whose interests, experience, and performance align with the needs of the organization. The point is that there should be somewhere to go.
Start Building the Therapist You Want to Become
Your first few years in practice will shape how you think about clients, how you use supervision, how you respond when treatment gets difficult, and ultimately what kind of therapist you become.
We take those years seriously.
If you're looking for a full-time PA, LGPC, LMSW, or LGMFT position in Maryland where you can build a reliable caseload, receive employer-paid supervision, develop your clinical skills, explore areas of specialization, and have room to grow after independent licensure, we'd like to meet you.
