Public Comment Routing Assistant
Customer Service · Marketing Channels · Remote · Full-time or part-time
£31.25–£33.25 per hour
A public question deserves a considered route
An organisation may receive public comments beneath its approved online posts. Some are ordinary questions that can be answered from published information.
Others involve a personal account, a complaint or a request that should move into a private customer service channel. The Public Comment Routing Assistant reviews assigned comments and follows the employer’s response guidance. This remote job sits where marketing channels meet customer service; it is not a role in which you set moderation policy or speak for the company without approval.
The first task is to understand what the comment asks. A person may request a link to an existing page, report that a form does not load or share personal details in public. You would identify the appropriate approved response or refer the matter to the team responsible. Do not ask a person to post more private information in the comments. If a standard answer exists, use it with attention to the actual question rather than dropping the same generic reply under every message.
Public and private are different channels
A public reply can be read by people beyond the original commenter. You should keep it factual and avoid implying knowledge of someone’s account. Where a case needs personal details, the employer will provide an approved private route. You may direct the person there without confirming whether they are a customer or disclosing internal information. A complaint or sensitive issue may also require a colleague’s review before any public response. You would record that handoff so the question is not ignored after it leaves the public queue.
The role does not ask you to delete criticism because it is inconvenient. The organisation defines which comments violate its moderation rules and who may take action. If you see something potentially abusive, unsafe or outside the guidance, flag it promptly through the designated process. You do not have to make a legal judgement or engage in an argument. The best response is often a short, respectful direction to a team that can help.
A single public thread can contain several people asking different questions. You would not assume a reply to the first person answers everyone else. Read the individual comments and use the approved guidance for each. If a customer says the link supplied by another team member did not solve the problem, check that link and refer the remaining issue rather than repeating it. Keep an internal note of the thread and the handoff, but avoid copying private information into a public reply. The team will show you how to distinguish a question that can be answered immediately from one that needs review.
Routine tasks may include:
- Review new comments in assigned online channels.
- Identify a simple information request that has an approved public answer.
- Provide a correct link or next step when authorised.
- Move account-specific questions toward an approved private contact route.
- Avoid repeating personal details a commenter has posted publicly.
- Flag a complaint or moderation question for the responsible colleague.
- Record whether a response was given, referred or still awaits review.
- Check a follow-up comment before treating the thread as complete.
Written tone matters because an online comment may be brief or frustrated. You should be able to acknowledge a concern without promising a resolution, using language that reads naturally in public. Previous community support, retail customer service or office administration experience can help, but it is not required. We welcome applicants with little formal experience who can read carefully, write courteously and follow instructions. The company will train its channel tools, approved replies and escalation boundaries.
The work is computer-based and remote. A home office area supports attention to the public message and the internal case note at the same time. Full-time and part-time arrangements may be available, at £31.25–£33.25 per hour. The hiring company can explain which channels the actual opening covers and who approves sensitive replies.
Applying for this role
If you have helped someone publicly find information while protecting personal details, make that experience clear. It need not have been on a social media team.
The employer can teach its online tools; the starting strengths are judgement, clear writing and a willingness to escalate. If you’re selected for the next step, you may be asked to complete an application on the hiring company’s website. Your initial application should show the communication tasks you have genuinely handled.
