Purchasing Manager

Location: Timoney Dynamic Solutions Limited, IDA Technology Park, Johnstown, Navan, Co. Meath, C15 PX45
Reporting to: Finance Director
Works with: Operations, Engineering, Quality, Production, Finance and Aftermarket Support

Introducing Timoney

Timoney is a global leader in the design and manufacture of specialist driveline systems for off-road vehicles. Our expertise includes vehicle dynamics, independent suspension and axle systems.

Based in Navan, Ireland, Timoney supplies construction, firefighting, vocational, defence, mining and special-purpose vehicle markets. With over 50 years of experience and exports to more than 40 countries, we combine specialist engineering knowledge with international reach.

Our recent acquisition by Kessler + Co. brings enhanced manufacturing capabilities to complement our engineering experience. As our manufacturing operations expand, we are looking for a Purchasing Manager to join our team.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious purchasing professional ready to take the next step in their career. You will take ownership of day-to-day purchasing, negotiate competitive commercial terms and develop reliable, productive relationships with suppliers.

We are seeking someone with strong commercial instincts, confidence in negotiation and a proactive approach to supplier management. Previous management experience is not essential; practical ability, initiative and potential are what matter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage purchasing of engineered components, machined and fabricated parts, OEM items, spare parts, MRO supplies, tooling, consumables and services.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers; obtain and compare quotations; negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, minimum order quantities and supply agreements.
  • Build positive, effective relationships with key suppliers while holding them accountable for quality, cost, responsiveness and on-time delivery.
  • Challenge cost increases and identify opportunities for savings, improved terms and alternative sources of supply.
  • Prepare and manage purchase orders, track deliveries and expedite critical components to protect production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality and Production on technical requirements, supplier issues and changing material priorities.
  • Identify supply risks, long-lead items and shortages early, and take practical steps to resolve them.
  • Support purchasing of critical spare parts, maintenance materials and operational supplies, alongside appropriate stock and inventory control.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing, pricing, supplier and order information in the ERP/MRP system.
  • Contribute ideas to improve purchasing processes and supplier performance as manufacturing volumes grow.

What We Are Looking For

  • Ideally 2–4 years’ experience in purchasing, procurement or supplier management; applications from candidates with other relevant experience are also welcome.
  • Demonstrable negotiation skills, commercial awareness and confidence dealing directly with suppliers.
  • Ability to build supplier relationships, resolve disagreements constructively and secure delivery commitments.
  • A proactive, well-organised approach to multiple orders, deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to work across departments.
  • An interest in engineering or manufacturing and a willingness to develop technical product knowledge.

Useful to have

  • Purchasing experience in an engineering, manufacturing, automotive, off-highway or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of machined parts, castings, forgings, fabrications or other engineered components.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP purchasing or inventory systems and working with international suppliers.
  • A relevant qualification in purchasing, supply chain, engineering or business.

Why Join Timoney?

You will join an established Irish engineering business at an important stage of growth, supported by Kessler + Co.’s manufacturing capabilities. The role offers direct exposure to engineering and production, meaningful responsibility for supplier relationships and the opportunity to grow professionally as our operations expand.

Recruitment agency assistance is not required.
