PV EPC Works Package Manager – Renewable Energy

Location: Lincolnshire / Remote (pre-construction phase)

Rate: Up to £550 per day Umbrella DOE

Contract: 12-month rolling contract - Inside IR35

We're looking for an experienced PV EPC Works Package Manager to support the delivery of a major renewable energy infrastructure project, taking ownership of a large-scale solar PV construction package from pre-construction and contract development through to construction, commissioning and handover.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a significant energy infrastructure project, working with key contractors and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safe, efficient and successful delivery of a utility-scale solar PV development.

The Role

The project is currently in its pre-construction phase, with remote working and approximately one day per week attending project meetings in London.

Initially, you will focus on contract development, tendering, contractor engagement and progressing detailed design ahead of site mobilisation. As the project moves into construction, anticipated in approximately 12–18 months, the role will transition to full-time site-based working in Lincolnshire throughout the construction and commissioning phases.

You will be responsible for the overall delivery of the PV EPC works package, ensuring performance across safety, programme, cost, quality and contractual compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall delivery of the Solar PV EPC contract, from pre-construction through to commissioning and final handover.
  • Manage the development of contracts, tendering activities and engagement with EPC contractors ahead of site mobilisation.
  • Take ownership of package budgets, schedules, quality requirements and risk management.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure delivery against contractual, programme and project requirements.
  • Coordinate interfaces with other major project packages, including substation and battery energy storage system (BESS) works.
  • Oversee quality planning, inspection and surveillance activities, ensuring appropriate standards are maintained.
  • Ensure contractors comply with CDM requirements, health and safety expectations and relevant development consent obligations.
  • Manage project risks, actions, change control and progress reporting, escalating issues where necessary.
  • Coordinate PV module testing, including manufacturing-stage testing and on-site testing following delivery and installation.
  • Support the integration of SCADA and security systems across the wider development.
  • Coordinate with commissioning teams and manage EPC contractor activities to support a smooth commissioning and handover process.
  • Work closely with engineering, commercial, consents, quality and H&S teams to ensure effective project delivery.

About You

We're keen to hear from candidates with a strong background in delivering large-scale solar PV, renewable energy or complex infrastructure projects.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience managing Solar PV EPC contracts or major renewable energy construction packages.
  • Strong experience in contractor management and the delivery of complex, multidisciplinary projects.
  • A solid understanding of project controls, including programme, cost, risk and change management.
  • Experience with contract management and commercial matters, ideally involving NEC and/or FIDIC contracts.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations, construction health and safety and environmental responsibilities.
  • An understanding of PV, BESS and substation infrastructure, including installation, commissioning and operation.
  • Experience managing project interfaces, quality requirements and contractor performance.
  • Familiarity with grid connection requirements and working with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and/or Transmission Network Operators (TNOs).
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a relevant discipline would be beneficial, alongside an APM PPQ or equivalent project management qualification.
