Show job description

Brightwater are delighted to partner with an international consultancy firm, based in Tipperary, with a presence across Europe, North America and Australia, specialising in strategy, finance and operations for privately owned and family-run SMEs.

They are looking to add to their team an experienced qualified accountant to join their compliance division.

The role

This is a role for someone who can own a client relationship end to end. Reporting to the senior management team, you will take a set of financial statements from preparation and drafting right through to client meetings and billing, alongside taxation and company secretarial returns and the ancillary business advice that goes with them.

While the role is rooted in compliance, it is not limited to it. There is scope to get involved in management consulting assignments, including financial analysis and financial modelling and, if that is of interest and is working well on both sides, to build your career in that direction.

What you will do

  • Prepare, draft and finalise financial statements (audit and audit-exempt) for a nationwide client base
  • Meet clients directly, present the numbers and advise on what they mean for the business
  • Take ownership of reconciliations, accounts file preparation and billing, within budget and to standard
  • Support clients and their finance functions with general business, financial and accounting advice
  • Contribute to consulting assignments such as financial analysis and modelling

What you will bring

  • Fully qualified accountant with a number of years’ post-qualification experience
  • Practice background — ideally gained in a small to medium-sized firm
  • Proven ability to run a set of financial statements from first draft to client sign-off
  • Audit exposure or a tax qualification is an advantage, but not a prerequisite
  • A confident, clear communicator, comfortable dealing with business owners face to face
  • Sharp attention to detail; results-oriented and deadline driven
  • Resilience and flexibility to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office and the ability to navigate accounting software packages

Salary and working arrangements

  • Salary circa €60,000, open to negotiation for the right candidate
  • Hybrid arrangement considered
  • Professional subscriptions paid
  • 20 days holidays
