Quality Control Underwriter

Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough reviews of mortgage loan files to ensure compliance with investor guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Utilize Automated Underwriting Systems (AUS) such as Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector (LP) to assess loan eligibility and risk. Perform pre-funding and post-closing audits to identify discrepancies, errors, and fraud indicators. Review appraisals, income documentation, credit reports, and other relevant documents for accuracy and completeness. Analyze loan data and documentation to determine creditworthiness and adherence to underwriting standards, including LTV (Loan-to-Value) ratios and DTI (Debt-to-Income) ratios. Prepare detailed quality control reports and findings, documenting issues and providing recommendations for corrective action. Communicate audit results and findings to underwriting teams, management, and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with industry best practices. Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise 3+ years of experience in mortgage underwriting, quality control, or related role. 3+ years of experience with LOS (Encompass preferred) Strong knowledge of mortgage industry regulations, including FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo, NON-QM, and conventional loan guidelines. Proficiency in utilizing industry tools and software, such as Encompass and ACES (Automated Compliance and Evaluation System), to conduct quality control reviews.
