Who we are:
At LMCU, you'll find more than just a job - discover a fulfilling career where your contributions truly matter. Join our talented team at Lake Michigan Credit Union and discover the difference an employer who puts people first can make in your career and life.
About this position:
The Quality Engineer I supports the quality of in-house and third-party software delivered by an assigned Agile team by writing and maintaining automated tests under the guidance of a more senior engineer. This role learns the team's automation framework, the delivery pipeline, and the applications under test, and grows toward independent ownership of test coverage for a product area. Work is assigned and reviewed by a Quality Engineer II or III, or by the Quality Engineering Manager.
What you’ll do:
- Write and maintain automated tests within the established framework and patterns, following the standards set by senior engineers. Submit test code through version control and pull request, and act on review feedback.
- Execute manual, exploratory, and regression testing against acceptance criteria. Convert repeatable manual checks into automated coverage as skills develop.
- Identify, document, and reproduce defects. Provide clear reproduction steps, logs, and evidence sufficient for a developer to diagnose the issue, and track defects to closure.
- Monitor automated test runs in the CI/CD pipeline. Perform first-pass triage of failures and escalate to a senior engineer when the cause is unclear.
- Prepare test data and support test environments, including installing and updating software in lower environments under direction.
- Attend backlog refinement, sprint planning, and daily standup. Ask clarifying questions on acceptance criteria and raise testability concerns to the team.
- Maintain test documentation and release validation records in the tools of record. Perform other duties as deemed relevant, based on experience.
- Adhere to and champion our core values of curious minds, collaborative hearts, and continuous excellence
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
What you’ll bring:
- 0 to 2 years of related experience. Internship, co-op, coursework, or personal project experience writing code will be considered.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in CIS/CS or a mathematical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
- Foundational experience with programming/scripting, test automation, and software testing concepts across the development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and SQL-based data validation.
- Experience or exposure to test automation tools and frameworks, including API, browser, and AI-driven testing solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly, including AI-assisted and agentic development tools.
What you’ll get:
- All Employees: weekly pay and retirement savings options.
- Full Time Employees: comprehensive health coverage including medical (with prescription), dental, vision, HSA match, paid parental leave, and tuition reimbursement.
