Who we are:
At LMCU, you'll find more than just a job - discover a fulfilling career where your contributions truly matter. Join our talented team at Lake Michigan Credit Union and discover the difference an employer who puts people first can make in your career and life.
About this position:
This role is a senior individual contributor accountable for the quality engineering practice on one or more Agile teams. The Quality Engineer III owns the test automation architecture and framework, sets the test strategy for complex or high-risk work, and drives quality upstream by partnering with engineers and product owners during analysis and design. This role spends a portion of its time improving how quality engineering is done across the organization, including tooling, standards, pipeline design, and the metrics used to judge delivery quality. This role mentors Quality Engineers I and II.
What you’ll do:
- Own and evolve the test automation framework and architecture. Establish patterns, shared libraries, and coding standards for test code. Review test code written by other engineers and hold the suite to a reliability standard that makes a failure meaningful.
- Define the test strategy and risk model for complex, cross-system, or high-exposure work, including third party integrations and vendor-delivered software. Decide what gets automated, at what layer, and what is validated another way.
- Sit with the development team from analysis and design forward. Perform proactive analysis of the project or task, challenge requirements and architecture for testability and failure modes, and shape acceptance criteria before build begins.
- Design and maintain the quality gates in the CI/CD pipeline. Integrate automated, performance, and security testing into the delivery pipeline and set the criteria that block or allow a release.
- Evaluate quality engineering processes and tooling, identify gaps, and lead improvements that raise first time right and reduce defect escape rate. Review test results and quality signals for accuracy and act on what they show.
- Mentor and coach Quality Engineers and developers on automation, testability, and quality practices. Serve as the escalation point for the most difficult defects and the hardest-to-reproduce failures.
- Adhere to and champion our core values of curious minds, collaborative hearts, and continuous excellence
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
What you’ll bring:
- 5 or more years of related experience, including substantial hands-on test automation development and ownership of a test framework or automation strategy.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in CIS/CS or a mathematical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
- Expertise in test automation, including framework design, programming, CI/CD integration, and automated quality practices across the software development lifecycle.
- Strong knowledge of quality engineering principles, including functional, API, performance, security, and data validation testing, with experience defining and measuring quality metrics.
- Experience leading quality initiatives within Agile environments, including mentoring, code reviews, and establishing testing standards and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted and agentic testing tools, with the ability to evaluate, govern, and promote responsible adoption of AI-driven quality engineering solutions.
What you’ll get:
- All Employees: weekly pay and retirement savings options.
- Full Time Employees: comprehensive health coverage including medical (with prescription), dental, vision, HSA match, paid parental leave, and tuition reimbursement.
