RemoteLegalStaff exists because there are incredibly talented legal professionals all over the world who've never had a shot at the U.S. legal market. We place and fully manage remote legal staff for U.S. law firms, hiring from Latin America, the Philippines, South Africa, and beyond.

We're growing fast, and we don't just place people and disappear. We train them, manage them, go to bat for them, and help them build real careers.

Our external recruiting team is the engine behind all of it, and you'll own that engine.

This isn't a role where you set direction from a distance and hope the team executes; every candidate who reaches a client reflects the standard you've built with your team. When it works, you join the mission of placing someone on the other side of the world who lands an opportunity that changes their trajectory, twelve times over, through every recruiter you lead.

About the role

As Recruiting Director, you'll own the strategy and long-term capacity of our external recruiting function: where candidates come from, what the bar is, how the function is structured and funded, and how it connects to sales, placement, client success, and data. You'll set the direction and hold the function to company-level outcomes, while a Recruiting Manager runs day-to-day operations under you.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who thinks in both quarters and days: comfortable building a multi-quarter strategy one moment and getting hands-on with a team that's off track the next. You'll report to the Director of Operations and represent recruiting in forums with sales, placement, and client success leadership.

What you'll do

  • Build the annual recruiting plan from the sales forecast: required candidate volume by role type and month, channel mix, and spend.
  • Own the quality bar in partnership with client success, using 90- and 180-day outcome data to revise screening and endorsement standards at least quarterly.
  • Decide unit structure: org design, spans of control, specialist sourcing roles, and when to add or reduce capacity.
  • Own the recruiting budget: channel ROI, tooling, and vendor and agency contracts.
  • Work with sales leadership so what account executives sell matches what recruiting can realistically fill, flagging early when a market or role type is drying up.
  • Own the feedback loops that connect retention and escalation data to recruiting standards, and close-rate data to sourcing priorities.
  • Develop your Recruiting Manager into an independent operator, and build the succession bench beneath them.
  • Report to the Director of Operations monthly on function health and quarterly on strategy.

,What we're looking for

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in recruitment or talent acquisition, including at least 8 years in a senior leadership role owning strategy, budget, and headcount for a recruitment function.
  • A proven track record building and scaling recruitment functions at volume, including org design decisions around unit structure, spans of control, and specialist sourcing capacity.
  • Experience owning a recruitment budget and vendor/agency contracts, including channel spend decisions and ROI evaluation.
  • Experience setting KPI frameworks and targets for a recruitment function — not just delivering against KPIs someone else set.
  • Experience partnering directly with sales or business development leadership to align pipeline capacity with what the organization sells, and holding your ground in those conversations.
  • Prior leadership experience in a staffing agency, outsourcing firm, shared services environment, or BPO recruiting function, or a comparable high-volume, fast-paced recruiting environment, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience hiring or managing talent across LATAM, the Philippines, or South Africa is a plus.
  • Excellent, native-level or near-native English communication skills, written and verbal — non-negotiable for this role.
  • Strong analytical skills, comfortable using real outcome data (cost-per-hire, retention, close-rate) to revise standards and sourcing priorities over time.
  • Sound business judgment on vendor and tooling investment, and strong negotiation ability on budget and structural decisions.

What success looks like

  • Within your first 30 days, you'll have the current recruiting plan, channel spend, and standards fully transferred and reviewed. By day 60, you'll own and have revised the annual recruiting plan and budget against the sales forecast, with a pool strategy set by role type and market. By day 90, you'll have led your first quarterly standards review with client success and placement, and have a development plan and succession bench in place for your Recruiting Manager.
