Permanent or B2B | Hybrid (3 days/week on-site) | Porto, Portugal
Our client, a major enterprise group, is expanding its core IT infrastructure team in Porto. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Red Hat Linux Systems Administrator (RHEL) to take full operational ownership of a production Red Hat Enterprise Linux estate—covering automation, high-availability clustering, VMware virtualization, storage connectivity, and infrastructure security.
In this long-term assignment (permanent or B2B), you will work closely with cross-functional security, network, and infrastructure squads to drive server lifecycle management, patching, security hardening, and infrastructure-as-code automation.
⚠️ Mandatory Criteria: This role strictly requires 5+ years of hands-on Linux administration with recent, strong RHEL production experience, and full availability to work on-site in Porto 3 days per week.
🎯 Key Responsibilities:
- RHEL Administration & Lifecycle: Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot RHEL servers across stand-alone and clustered environments; manage full server lifecycles (provisioning, change management, decommissioning).
- Infrastructure Automation: Automate recurring operational tasks, patching, and incident resolution using Ansible, Ansible Tower / AWX, and Shell scripting.
- Red Hat Ecosystem & Identity: Manage Red Hat Satellite for content management and system patching; support enterprise identity services including Red Hat IDM and OpenLDAP.
- High Availability & Virtualization: Operate Linux HA clusters (Pacemaker, Corosync, OpenSVC, or Veritas) and manage VMware virtual machine provisioning and support.
- Storage & Security Hardening: Administer storage connectivity, troubleshoot SAN switches, apply system hardening/compliance controls, and partner with network teams on connectivity flows.
- L3 Support & Root Cause Analysis: Lead complex incident investigations, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and maintain updated operational runbooks and automation documentation.
👤 Profile & Technical Requirements:
- Core Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on Linux system administration with strong, recent RHEL production experience in enterprise environments.
- Automation & Tools: Practical experience with Ansible / Ansible Tower / AWX and Red Hat Satellite.
- Clustering & Virtualization: Proven experience with Linux High Availability (Pacemaker, Corosync, OpenSVC, or Veritas) and VMware administration.
- Storage & Systems: Hands-on experience with enterprise storage arrays, SAN switches, and authentication systems (Red Hat IDM, OpenLDAP).
- Languages: Professional English fluency is mandatory.
- Location & Work Model: Based in or able to commute to Porto (hybrid: 3 days/week on-site mandatory).
💰 Compensation: depending on profile
