About Kaluza

Kaluza is the Energy Intelligence Platform, turning energy complexity into seamless coordination. We help energy companies overcome today’s challenges while accelerating the shift to a clean, electrified future.

Our platform orchestrates millions of real-time decisions across homes, devices, markets and grids. By combining predictive algorithms with human-centred design, Kaluza makes clean energy dependable, affordable and adaptive to everyday life.

With teams across Europe, Asia and Australia, and a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation in Japan, we power leading companies including OVO, AGL and ENGIE, as well as innovators like Volvo and Volkswagen.

What you'll do

The Release, Environments and Change Engineer (REC Engineer) has three key areas of responsibility. You will operate Release, Environments and Change processes and procedures, and you’ll be involved in, and often lead, the identification and implementation of process improvements using AI and other tools.

You will work closely with the REC Manager and Environments Manager and operate the processes they define. These processes may rely on manual activities and controls at first, so you’ll take a leading role in replacing them with appropriate automation, and then identify mechanisms and methods to govern those automated controls.

You will collaborate with Enablement teams and engineering teams across Kaluza to make sure processes are understood, embedded and followed. You’ll be a decision maker with the authority to decline or postpone releases and changes, and you’ll handle client communication where approval is required for a change or release.

  • Operating promotion gates, making promote or block decisions between environments in line with contractual and ways-of-working agreements, and escalating high-risk calls.

  • Facilitating change approvals, release Go/No-Go meetings and release trains, preparing releases against readiness criteria and tracking per-team readiness and environment-deployed status.

  • Using AI-assisted checks to confirm quality gates are met, summarise what changed in a release, score change risk and flag incomplete or stale records, applying your own judgment to improve the reliability of the results.

  • Maintaining complete, accurate change and configuration records, keeping every change traceable across the full environment stack, and managing the change and release calendar.

  • Building and maintaining release automation, including readiness checks, artefact promotion, AI-drafted release notes and notifications, and reporting feeds.

  • Working with engineering teams in real time to roll back failed releases or apply fixes, and coordinating with incident and problem management so planned changes, hotfixes and major incidents stay in sync.

  • Communicating changes and releases internally and externally, supporting environment coordination and validation, running post-implementation reviews and retros, and giving operational input into gate definitions and the wider process.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple moving parts and spot incomplete records or inconsistencies.

  • Clear communication and strong facilitation skills, comfortable coordinating across teams, leading check-ins, keeping everyone aligned, driving decisions and chasing things through to completion.

  • The confidence to say no and hold the line when something isn’t ready, and to escalate when you’re unsure.

  • Comfort with Jira (or similar), including configuring boards, workflows and tickets.

  • Scripting and automation skills to build and maintain the automation around a release process (readiness checks, artefact promotion, release notes and reporting), plus familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated testing into deployment workflows.

  • Day-to-day use of AI tooling with a critical eye, catching what it gets wrong rather than waving it through.

  • Experience building or integrating AI agents (e.g. LangChain, AutoGen, custom frameworks, MCP-based tooling), with an understanding of prompt engineering and LLM evaluation techniques such as faithfulness, relevance and LLM-as-a-judge, since traditional pass/fail assertions don’t translate well to testing AI agents.

What will set you apart

  • Any exposure to how software gets released or how environments work, even informally.

  • Light scripting or automation experience, or the appetite to learn it.

  • A calm head under time pressure.
