Remote | Civil Rights Attorney (BigLaw Firms) — $140–$400/hour

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Civil Rights Attorneys with strong expertise in civil rights law, statutory interpretation, case law analysis, legal research, legal writing, policy analysis, and complex legal reasoning to contribute to an advanced legal AI training and evaluation project.

Selected professionals will analyse civil rights statutes, regulations, policies, and judicial precedent; develop sophisticated legal scenarios; review AI-generated analyses; and provide expert feedback grounded in professional legal standards. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities

Civil Rights Legal Analysis

• Analyse complex civil rights statutes, regulations, and legal frameworks
• Interpret statutory language and assess its application to varied fact patterns
• Evaluate legal issues for accuracy, relevance, and analytical completeness
• Identify competing interpretations and legally significant distinctions
• Apply sound professional judgement to complex civil rights matters

Legal Research & Case Law Analysis

• Conduct in-depth legal research across statutes, regulations, and case law
• Analyse judicial decisions and identify relevant legal principles
• Distinguish controlling precedent from persuasive authority
• Synthesise complex legal sources into clear conclusions
• Identify important precedents, doctrinal developments, and unresolved issues

Legal Writing & Memoranda

• Draft clear legal summaries, memoranda, and analytical materials
• Explain complex civil rights issues in precise professional language
• Organise legal reasoning logically and persuasively
• Review written work for accuracy, clarity, and completeness
• Adapt legal explanations for both legal and non-legal audiences

Scenario & Hypothetical Development

• Develop realistic civil rights scenarios and legal hypotheticals
• Design problems that test statutory interpretation and case-law reasoning
• Ensure factual scenarios contain sufficient legal complexity and nuance
• Identify ambiguities that require careful legal analysis
• Create high-quality materials suitable for AI training and evaluation

AI Legal Evaluation

• Review AI-generated civil rights analyses for legal accuracy and quality
• Identify missed issues, weak reasoning, or unsupported conclusions
• Evaluate use of statutory and case-law authority
• Provide structured expert feedback to improve model performance
• Apply professional legal standards consistently across repeated evaluations

Policy Analysis & Interdisciplinary Collaboration

• Analyse civil rights policies and their legal implications
• Translate complex legal concepts for multidisciplinary teams
• Collaborate with technical, research, and project stakeholders
• Clarify legal ambiguities and improve the quality of project inputs
• Contribute insight on intersections between civil rights law, policy, and emerging technologies

Ideal Profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Admission to the bar in at least one jurisdiction
• Substantial experience practising civil rights law
• BigLaw or comparable top-tier legal experience is highly valuable
• Strong record of legal research, legal writing, and case law analysis
• Demonstrated experience handling complex or high-stakes legal matters
• Strong statutory interpretation and policy-analysis skills
• Exceptional critical-thinking ability
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to explain sophisticated legal concepts clearly to varied audiences
• Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary or technology-driven environments is advantageous
• Interest in the intersection of law, policy, AI, and emerging technologies is beneficial
• No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required

• Fully remote
• Compensation: $140–$400/hour
• Work will involve civil rights legal analysis, statutory interpretation, case law research, legal writing, policy analysis, scenario development, and AI-output evaluation
• Strong legal research and analytical judgement are central to this engagement
• Assignments may involve statutes, regulations, judicial decisions, legal memoranda, policy materials, and complex civil rights scenarios
• Project scope, workload, legal topics, and evaluation standards may evolve depending on project requirements
• Work must be completed without using confidential or privileged information belonging to any employer, client, law firm, institution, or other third party
