Remote | General Counsel — $90–$130/hour
24-MAGWe are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced in-house General Counsel professionals with strong expertise in technology transactions, contract drafting, contract review, negotiation, and redlining to contribute to an advanced legal AI training and evaluation project.
Selected professionals will review contract-redlining workflows, simulate negotiations, evaluate AI-generated legal responses, and help establish rigorous standards for contract interpretation, legal risk assessment, and transactional judgement. The work is particularly suited to senior in-house lawyers with substantial experience negotiating technology agreements and translating legal expertise into practical business guidance.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Drafting & Redlining
- Perform simulated contract negotiations and redlining exercises
- Draft, review, and revise sophisticated commercial agreements
- Identify legal, commercial, and operational risks in contract language
- Assess whether proposed revisions appropriately allocate risk and reflect business objectives
- Maintain consistency and precision across iterative contract-review workflows
Technology Transactions
- Apply in-house legal judgement to technology-focused commercial transactions
- Review and negotiate agreements such as MSAs, NDAs, and DPAs
- Evaluate contractual provisions in the context of technology products, services, and commercial relationships
- Identify issues involving liability, data protection, obligations, interpretation, and risk allocation
- Apply practical General Counsel judgement to realistic transaction scenarios
AI Contract Evaluation
- Review AI-generated responses to contract and negotiation scenarios
- Identify weak legal reasoning, inaccurate interpretations, and inappropriate drafting choices
- Assess whether AI-generated redlines demonstrate sound legal and commercial judgement
- Provide clear expert feedback to improve model performance and output precision
- Help improve AI systems designed to support contract review and legal analysis
Evaluation Frameworks & Grading Criteria
- Create objective evaluation frameworks for contract-related tasks
- Define grading criteria covering drafting quality, legal reasoning, negotiation judgement, and risk identification
- Establish consistent standards for assessing AI-generated legal work
- Document why particular responses are strong, incomplete, or incorrect
- Support rigorous and repeatable legal-evaluation workflows
Cross-Functional Legal Collaboration
- Collaborate with product, research, and technical teams
- Help refine legal datasets, review guidelines, and best practices for AI-driven contract analysis
- Translate legal expertise into structured and actionable feedback
- Communicate complex legal concepts clearly across interdisciplinary teams
- Contribute to quality standards for technology-enabled legal workflows
Ideal Profile
- Minimum of 3 years of in-house legal experience
- Strong background in technology transactions and commercial contracting
- Hands-on experience negotiating MSAs, NDAs, DPAs, and comparable agreements
- Strong contract-drafting, review, negotiation, and redlining skills
- Ability to identify legal and commercial risk with precision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical judgement
- Ability to translate legal expertise into structured feedback
- Comfortable working with cross-disciplinary teams in fast-paced environments
- Prior exposure to AI, legal tech, or AI-training initiatives is advantageous but not required
Engagement Details
- Part-time independent contractor engagement
- Fully remote
- Compensation: $90–$130/hour
- Compensation is task-based, with payment tied to completed tasks that meet project specifications
- Average handling time is approximately 3.5 hours per task
- Effective hourly earnings may vary depending on task completion time and successful sign-off
- Work will involve contract drafting, redlining, negotiation simulations, AI-output evaluation, and legal-quality framework development
- Strong in-house technology-transactions experience is central to this engagement
- Project scope, workload, contract types, and evaluation standards may evolve depending on project requirements
- Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, law firm, institution, or other third party
