Why you'll enjoy this new opportunity
Reporting Excellence is an exciting and growing team within Deloitte Ireland's Assurance business. We help finance functions produce better, faster and more reliable financial reporting, and we support them through the moments that matter most: transactions, new accounting standards, system change and the adoption of AI. Our work is built around four key pillars:
- Reporting Excellence & Solutions: optimising reporting cycles through standardisation, consolidation, automation and Operate expansion;
- Accounting Advice & Transaction Support: providing expert technical accounting support for M&A, IPOs and new standards;
- Technology & AI Advisory: advising finance functions on accounting, controls and audit considerations as they implement system changes and AI-enabled automation; and
- Specialist Functions: providing integrated support across audit and advisory.
We are looking for generalists: people who can confidently engage with clients and who understand the end-to-end financial reporting process, the systems that support it and the reporting outputs it produces. Breadth, curiosity and sound accounting judgement are what we value most, and you will have the opportunity to work across all four pillars on a wide variety of clients and projects.
As a Reporting Excellence Manager, you will manage engagements from scoping through to delivery, acting as a trusted adviser to Financial Controllers and CFO teams. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams across our four pillars, bringing together accounting, process, systems and controls perspectives to solve the reporting challenges our clients face. Alongside delivery, you will play an active role in developing our people, building client relationships and winning new work, helping to shape the growth of a team that is expanding its offering in areas such as Operate services and Technology & AI Advisory.
Key skills and prior experience that align well with this position
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) with a strong academic record and substantial post-qualification experience gained through audit, industry or project-based advisory work. This is essential.
- Advanced technical expertise in IFRS and/or FRS 102 (US GAAP a bonus). You can form and defend well-reasoned judgements on complex matters, including M&A, IPOs and new standards, and take responsibility for the quality of the team's technical output.
- Broad understanding of finance functions: the financial reporting process, systems, controls and reporting outputs. You can advise on how system change and AI-enabled automation affect accounting, controls and audit considerations, and you understand the independence requirements that apply when serving audit and non-audit clients.
- Engagement management and delivery excellence: the ability to oversee engagements from scoping and planning through execution and client sign-off, manage budgets, risks and multiple workstreams, and consistently deliver high-quality outputs on time.
- People leadership and commercial acumen: experience leading and developing teams, building trusted relationships with senior finance stakeholders, identifying follow-on opportunities and leading the drafting of proposals. You engage confidently with clients across sectors and enjoy the variety of a generalist role.
What type of work will I be doing?
- Engagement Management & Delivery (45%): Manage the full cycle of engagements, from scoping and planning through execution and sign-off. Lead teams, coordinate with audit, technology and advisory colleagues, manage budgets and risks, and ensure deliverables meet quality and timeline expectations.
- Technical Advisory & Problem-Solving (20%): Provide expert guidance on complex financial reporting matters, transactions and new standards. Review and approve accounting papers and recommendations, and translate technical requirements into practical solutions for clients' processes and systems.
- Team Leadership & Development (20%): Lead, coach and develop engagement teams, act as a counsellor, lead performance reviews and contribute to recruitment, learning and team culture.
- Business Development & Market Presence (15%): Build relationships with existing and prospective clients, identify and pursue follow-on opportunities, lead the drafting of proposals and contribute to thought leadership and the development of new service offerings.
