Why you'll enjoy this new opportunity
Reporting Excellence is an exciting and growing team within Deloitte Ireland's Assurance business. We help finance functions produce better, faster and more reliable financial reporting, and we support them through the moments that matter most: transactions, new accounting standards, system change and the adoption of AI. Our work is built around four key pillars:
- Reporting Excellence & Solutions: optimising reporting cycles through standardisation, consolidation, automation and Operate expansion;
- Accounting Advice & Transaction Support: providing expert technical accounting support for M&A, IPOs and new standards;
- Technology & AI Advisory: advising finance functions on accounting, controls and audit considerations as they implement system changes and AI-enabled automation; and
- Specialist Functions: providing integrated support across audit and advisory.
We are looking for generalists: people who can confidently engage with clients and who understand the end-to-end financial reporting process, the systems that support it and the reporting outputs it produces. Breadth, curiosity and sound accounting judgement are what we value most, and you will have the opportunity to work across all four pillars on a wide variety of clients and projects.
As a Reporting Excellence Senior Manager, you will be a leader within the team, responsible for a portfolio of engagements and senior client relationships. You will act as a trusted adviser to CFOs, Finance Directors and audit committees, helping them improve their reporting, navigate transactions and new standards, and adopt new systems and AI with confidence. You will play a central role in growing the business, originating and winning work, shaping our propositions across the four pillars and building our presence in the market. Working closely with our Partners and Directors, you will help set the direction of the team, develop our people and build a strong platform for progression to Director.
Key skills and prior experience that align well with this position
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience and a proven track record of leading engagements in advisory, audit or industry. This is essential.
- Expert technical judgement in IFRS and/or FRS 102 (US GAAP a bonus). You are a recognised point of escalation on complex accounting matters, including M&A, IPOs and new standards, and take responsibility, with Partners and Directors, for the quality of technical positions the team provides to clients.
- Strategic view of the finance function: a deep understanding of the financial reporting process, systems, controls and reporting outputs. You can shape transformation roadmaps and advise CFOs on the accounting, control and audit implications of system change and AI, with a strong grasp of independence and risk management.
- Leadership of a portfolio of engagements: accountability for planning, delivery, quality, risk management and financial performance (budgets, recoveries and billing) across multiple concurrent engagements, with the ability to step in and resolve issues with senior client stakeholders.
- Business development and people leadership: a proven track record of originating and winning work, leading proposals and pitches and building senior client relationships, combined with experience leading, developing and inspiring teams. You champion a generalist, client-focused culture and help others grow into it.
What type of work will I be doing?
- Engagement Leadership & Quality (30%): Lead and oversee a portfolio of engagements, set direction for engagement teams, take accountability for quality, risk and financial performance, and resolve complex issues with senior client stakeholders.
- Business Development & Market Presence (30%): Originate and win new work, lead proposals and pitches, develop new propositions and service offerings, and build the team's market profile through thought leadership, external events and senior relationship building.
- People Leadership & Team Strategy (25%): Lead, develop and inspire the team, act as a counsellor and performance lead, drive resourcing and recruitment, and work with Partners and Directors on the team's strategy and growth.
- Technical Leadership & Thought Leadership (15%): Act as the senior point of escalation on complex accounting, reporting and AI-related matters, review key technical positions, and lead the team's perspective on emerging standards and developments in technology and AI.
