Job Description:

The Reservoir Engineer in the CCAT Growth team supports the identification, screening, maturation and prioritization of exploration and discovered resource opportunities across a diverse portfolio. The role integrates geological, geophysical, reservoir, wells, facilities, project and commercial inputs to generate technically robust development scenarios under a wide range of uncertainty.

The successful candidate will apply fit-for-purpose reservoir engineering methods, benchmarking tools and rapid modelling techniques to estimate hydrocarbons initially in place, recoverable resources and production profiles for greenfield and mature-field opportunities. The role requires strong commercial awareness, clear communication of uncertainty and value drivers, and the ability to deliver decision-quality technical recommendations at pace.

The individual will be a self-starter, capable of working with moderate oversight, contributing to technical assurance and peer reviews, and coaching less experienced staff.

Key Accountabilities

• Support the identification, screening and maturation of exploration and discovered resource opportunities through appraisal, concept development and selection stages.

• Generate robust production profiles and recoverable resource estimates across a wide range of subsurface and development uncertainties.

• Develop and apply analogue, benchmarking and data-analytics approaches to assess reservoir quality, recovery potential, development efficiency and expected field performance.

• Analyze large and diverse datasets from mature and greenfield assets to identify development potential, key uncertainties and value-creation opportunities.

• Construct and apply fit-for-purpose mechanistic, material-balance, analytical and numerical models to estimate hydrocarbons initially in place, recovery and production performance.

• Evaluate multiple development concepts, phasing options and sensitivities to identify technically credible and commercially attractive scenarios.

• Integrate geoscience interpretations and assumptions into reservoir engineering evaluations, ensuring consistency across scales and uncertainty ranges.

• Quantify and clearly communicate subsurface risks, uncertainties, sensitivities and key value drivers to support portfolio and investment decisions.

• Work within multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams, including geoscience, wells, facilities, projects and commercial, to develop integrated recommendations.

• Support resource and reserves evaluations, technical assurance and governance processes, with clear documentation of methods, assumptions and outcomes.

• Prepare and deliver concise technical recommendations to peer-review, multidisciplinary and leadership forums.

• Maintain awareness of relevant industry benchmarks, emerging technologies and reservoir engineering best practices.

• Contribute actively to Reservoir Engineering Communities of Practice and support capability development through coaching and knowledge sharing.

Essential Experience and Job Requirements

• Degree in Reservoir Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics or an equivalent technical discipline.

• Strong reservoir engineering experience, with a strong record of delivering high-quality technical work.

• Demonstrated experience in field development planning, resource maturation and opportunity evaluation.

• Strong command of classical reservoir engineering principles and uncertainty and risk management methodologies.

• Experience generating production forecasts and recoverable resource estimates for exploration, discovered resource and development opportunities. • Proven capability in analogue studies, benchmarking and rapid screening methodologies.

• Practical experience with volumetric assessment, material balance, decline analysis, mechanistic modelling and fit-for purpose reservoir simulation.

• Ability to integrate inputs from multiple disciplines and translate technical analysis into coherent development scenarios.

• Commercial awareness and the ability to evaluate technical outcomes in the context of value creation and investment decisions.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder-management skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple opportunities and priorities, and deliver quality recommendations at pace.

• Experience supporting resources and reserves processes is desirable.
