Show job description

A purpose-led personal care brand on a mission to cut single-use plastic from the bathroom is looking for a Retail Marketing Manager. The brand already looks great on its own website. Your job is to make it work just as hard on a supermarket shelf and a retailer’s product page, where it’s sitting next to the household names.

Five years of strong growth have taken the business into the major grocers, online grocery and the big health and beauty chains. The next stage is growing further in those retailers and opening up new ones, and this role is how the brand team keeps pace.

The role

You’ll sit in the Brand team and be its main link to the Retail team. You’ll own the retail marketing calendar, come up with the ideas that make launches and key moments land in store, and make sure brand planning gives retail the same weight as DTC from the start.

What you’ll be doing

Planning

  • Build the annual retail marketing calendar around range reviews, launches, promotions and retailer activity

  • Get to know each retailer’s shopper, and shape promotions, POS, sampling and gifting to suit

  • Bring a retail view into brand planning early, so the plan isn’t DTC with retail bolted on at the end

Activation

  • Come up with ideas for launches and key moments, then work with the Creative team to turn them into in-store and online activations that get noticed

  • Lead the retail marketing toolkits and materials

  • Support trade events and retailer head office visits, and go along to them

Online

  • Brief and optimise onsite search, display and email within retailer platforms

  • Make sure product content on retailer sites is doing its job

Working with Retail

  • Be the Brand team’s go-to person for the Retail team

  • Support joint business planning with retailers, helping win marketing investment and extra visibility

What you’ll need

You know what it takes to get a shopper to pick something up in a busy aisle, and you’ve got more ideas than there are promotional slots. You care about the brand enough to protect it, and you’re practical enough to know a shelf strip isn’t a brand film. You’re as comfortable in a retailer’s media platform as you are in a creative review. And you like being the person who keeps brand, creative and commercial pulling in the same direction.

  • At least five years in FMCG shopper, retail or trade marketing

  • Experience working with grocery and health and beauty retailers

  • You’ve briefed and optimised retailer media: onsite search, display, email and product content

  • Ideas that work on shelf, and activations behind you that drove footfall

  • You can adapt a brand for a shelf or a listing without losing what makes it distinctive

  • Organised, with a real eye for detail. A calendar with this many retailers and moments doesn’t run itself

  • Used to working across brand, creative and commercial teams

💸 Salary: £45,000-55,000 depending on experience
🏡 Logistics: East London, hybrid, in the office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Perks:
🌴 33 days’ holiday including flexible bank holidays, plus your birthday off
💪 Fitness and wellbeing membership
📈 Share options after probation

The successful candidate will have the right to work in the UK.
