Returns Collection Support Coordinator
Remote customer service · Collection Arrangements · Part-time or full-time
£26.25–£28.50 per hour
Sending return instructions is one step; arranging a confirmed collection is another. This position supports customers after a return has entered the approved collection process. You would check the authorised collection request, explain the confirmed details, record a missed pickup and pass changes to the team that can rearrange it. You would not decide whether a product qualifies for return, promise a refund or create a collection slot that the carrier has not accepted.
The information that needs to match
A collection record may show the item, address, agreed date and any approved packing instructions. Compare those details with the customer’s latest message before sending a confirmation. If the person has moved or says the item is at another address, ask the authorised team to change the booking rather than quietly editing a field that affects the carrier. If the collection window has not been confirmed, describe it as pending. The customer should not take time off for a visit that is still only a request.
When a customer reports a failed pickup, start with the actual case history. Has the carrier recorded an attempt? Did the customer receive a different date? The role does not require you to judge which account is correct. Capture the customer’s report, check the available status and send the issue to the team that can investigate or rebook. Keep the existing return reference so the next colleague sees the full sequence.
There may be two parcels under one return authorisation. A collection confirmation for one does not necessarily cover the other. Note the item or package reference in your message and case record. If a customer asks for a label instead of a collection, identify the requested change and route it under the employer’s process. Avoid sending conflicting instructions that cause the person to both wait for a driver and post the parcel.
Daily responsibilities
The work may involve checking new collection confirmations, answering practical questions from customers and following up on items whose status changed overnight. You could send an approved reminder containing the date and packing information, but only after confirming that the booking still stands. If a carrier update differs from the internal record, flag it to the owner before contacting the customer. Your office administration notes should record what was confirmed, what remains disputed and who is handling the next action.
Good customer service is specific. “Your return is being processed” is not an answer to “is someone coming tomorrow?” Use the details actually available and say when the collection has not yet been confirmed. A professional tone matters when a pickup has failed, but it must be paired with a useful next step. You will not be expected to manage the carrier relationship or set return policy.
This is a remote role carried out through online return records and written messages. A home office with reliable access helps you compare the current booking with customer replies. The employer will train you in its return statuses and referral routes. Previous logistics or support experience is welcome but not essential. You should be comfortable checking addresses and dates, asking a focused question and leaving an unresolved case open. Full-time or part-time hours will be specified by the hiring company.
There may be a practical accessibility or safety concern around a collection. The customer could say that a heavy item cannot be moved to an entrance, or that the collection point described in the notice is unavailable. Record the issue and send it to the team that can confirm an approved arrangement. Do not tell the person to lift, dismantle or leave an item outside unless that instruction has been supplied for the specific return. A clear handoff helps the collection team plan and prevents the customer from relying on informal advice.
Apply
Describe how you would handle a message saying a driver did not arrive for a confirmed collection. Your example need not come from a return job. We want to see that you would check the record, acknowledge the report and avoid promising a new slot without approval. Candidates who progress may be asked to complete an application on the hiring company’s website. The employer will provide the procedures used for its collection support.
