BE YOUR BEST AT BDO

At BDO, we pride ourselves on being one of the world's leading accountancy and advisory organisations. We serve a diverse range of clients across every sector, but our true strength lies in our relationships.

We prioritise what matters to you, adopting a partnership-style approach that ensures we are responsible, reliable and always keep our promises. Open and honest communication is at the heart of how we conduct business. Join us at BDO, where your success is our commitment.

About The Role

We're looking for a finance-minded ERP Implementation Specialist to help build a new practice within BDO Digital. You will lead finance system implementations for mid-market clients, from the first demonstration and discovery workshop through to go-live and post-implementation support.

This is not a standard ERP role. You will be among the first in New Zealand to work with two accounting platforms new to the local market, while gaining hands-on experience with AI-native finance and business software. Full product training and certification will be provided.

You'll also play a key role in shaping how the practice grows, including our implementation methodology, client offerings, reusable tools and market presence. This role could suit a chartered accountant moving into systems and advisory, a systems accountant or financial controller, or an implementation consultant from an accounting software partner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored software demonstrations and run discovery workshops with CFOs, financial controllers and finance teams
  • Scope engagements and translate client finance processes, reporting needs and pain points into practical system solutions
  • Design and configure chart of accounts, entity structures, tax settings, approval workflows and financial reporting
  • Map key finance processes including procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, record-to-report and month-end close
  • Plan and deliver data migrations from systems such as Xero, MYOB, Sage and NetSuite, including cleansing, mapping and reconciliation
  • Prepare test scripts, coordinate system and user acceptance testing, and develop training materials for finance users
  • Manage cutover planning, go-live readiness, the first month-end close and post-go-live support
  • Work with integration specialists on connections to banking, payroll, CRM and other operational systems
  • Build reusable templates, implementation playbooks and configuration accelerators as the BDO Digital practice grows

Skills and experience

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including double-entry, GST, month-end and year-end processes, consolidations and financial reporting
  • Hands-on experience with several New Zealand accounting systems such as Xero, MYOB, Sage or NetSuite
  • Experience across some of the following: software demonstrations, configuration, data migration, testing, end-user training or go-live
  • Confidence working with CFOs and finance teams, with the ability to translate business needs into practical system design
  • Strong Excel and data skills, with experience mapping, cleansing and reconciling financial information
  • A clear, collaborative communication style and the ability to work independently across multiple client engagements
  • Professional services experience, an accounting qualification, multi-entity ERP exposure, or an interest in AI and finance automation would be advantageous

Your Future at BDO Auckland

When you join us, we'll make your growth our priority. You will receive full training and certification on two accounting platforms new to New Zealand, while building capability in AI-native finance and business technology ahead of the market.

You'll have a genuine hand in building a new practice, with visibility to Partners, varied work across growing mid-market businesses and a clear path to progress. You'll also have the backing of BDO's national and global network, alongside hybrid working, wellbeing support and ongoing professional development.

You must be currently in New Zealand and have the right to work permanently to apply.
