Specializing in corporate events, social celebrations, weddings, and large-scale buyouts, the RMD Events team partners closely with venue leadership to drive private event revenue and deliver a seamless experience from initial inquiry through event execution.

Position Summary
The Sales & Event Service Manager is responsible for generating, contracting, planning, and servicing private events for Ballast Point Anaheim and Ballast Point Long Beach. This role manages the full event lifecycle, from initial inquiry and proposal development through execution and post-event follow-up, for groups ranging from approximately 25 to 700 guests.

This hybrid role combines proactive sales and business development with hands-on event planning and servicing. The Sales & Event Service Manager will drive new and repeat business through prospecting, networking, FAMs, and client entertainment while managing inbound leads and working toward monthly sales goals.

The position works closely with venue leadership and operations teams and is onsite for site tours, client meetings, and key events, with the flexibility to work remotely when onsite presence is not required.

The ideal candidate is a creative, motivated self-starter who is comfortable independently managing their schedule, sales pipeline, and client relationships while serving as the RMD Events lead for the Orange County and Long Beach market.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
  • Meet or exceed monthly sales goals for Ballast Point Anaheim and Long Beach and maintain accurate weekly and monthly forecasts.
  • Drive outbound sales through consistent prospecting, including calls, emails, social outreach, drop-ins, and dedicated outreach blocks.
  • Develop relationships with corporate offices, hotels and concierges, DMCs, tourism and convention partners, schools, sports and entertainment groups, community organizations, and past clients.
  • Respond promptly to inbound leads and qualify opportunities based on guest count, budget, date, event goals, and venue fit.
  • Attend networking events, chamber and industry functions, and trade shows throughout Orange County and Long Beach.
  • Plan and host FAMs (familiarization events) for planners, hotel concierges, DMCs, and corporate partners.
  • Entertain clients and prospects to strengthen relationships and generate repeat and referral business.
  • Conduct site tours and present venue spaces, menus, pricing, and booking requirements.
  • Create customized proposals, sample menus, layouts, and cost estimates; negotiate terms, secure deposits, and obtain signed contracts in accordance with RMD pricing and policies.
  • Maintain accurate sales activity, forecasts, client communication, and deal progress in Tripleseat.

Event Planning & Service
  • Manage both quick-turn bookings for groups of 50 or fewer and larger, high-touch events requiring customized menus, timelines, floor plans, AV, décor, and vendor coordination.
  • Oversee event servicing from signed contract through event completion, including planning calls, timelines, and ongoing client communication.
  • Prepare and distribute accurate Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) at least two weeks prior to each event and maintain current event details and financials in Tripleseat.
  • Attend important high-touch events onsite to greet clients, review key event details with the Private Event Lead or MOD, and ensure a smooth handoff to the venue team.
  • Identify upsell opportunities, including food and beverage packages, AV, rentals, décor, and third-party services.
  • Manage client budgets, deposits, and payments and ensure final billing is closed out promptly following each event.
  • Complete post-event follow-up, including final receipts, thank-you communication, and feedback collection to support repeat business.

Venue Partnership & Collaboration
  • Serve as the primary private events partner for the Ballast Point Anaheim and Long Beach General Managers and leadership teams.
  • Attend venue manager and BEO meetings to review upcoming confirmed events, staffing needs, and logistics.
  • Maintain proactive communication with the RMD Events team in San Diego regarding sales pipeline, forecasting, events, and departmental processes.
Department & Company Support
  • Contribute to department-wide revenue goals and consistent service standards across the RMD Events portfolio.
  • Support lead-generation initiatives, marketing collateral, social media content, and event photography for the Orange County venues.
  • Stay informed about the Orange County and Long Beach event markets, seasonal demand, and competitive landscape.
  • Assist with additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned by RMD Partners, Venue General Managers, or the VP/Director of Sales & Events.

  • Must be comfortable independently managing schedules, priorities, and sales pipeline.
  • Frequent travel between Anaheim, Long Beach, and local client or networking events is required. Reliable transportation is required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, Communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
