Community banks and credit unions with under $3.5B in assets are where Empyrean is growing next. As a Sales Executive on our Community Banking team, you'll introduce Empyrean to institutions that may not know us yet, build your own pipeline, and win new clients.
What this role is really like
This is a new-business role. You'll build much of your own pipeline through targeted outreach, with marketing, GTM, webinars and conferences behind you. Don't expect a steady flow of inbound leads. Deals take about nine months on average, anywhere from four months to two years, so steady prospecting matters as much as strong closing. Our targets are ambitious and growing. If building a territory excites you more than inheriting one, you'll fit right in.
What you'll do
Build and own a pipeline of new community bank and credit union prospects, partnering with our demand generation team
Reach CEOs, CFOs, CROs, treasurers and other senior leaders with researched, multi-touch outreach that's specific to each bank, not a template
Represent Empyrean at industry conferences and client events, drive attendance to our webinars, then follow up quickly and thoughtfully
Own the full sales cycle: lead discovery, deliver well-prepared presentations and demos alongside sales engineers, and negotiate pricing and contracts
Manage deals in Salesforce using MEDDIC (our checklist for qualifying a deal: who decides, what the pain is and how the decision gets made), and bring deals to weekly reviews for coaching
Sell our core solutions (ALM, liquidity planning, budgeting and forecasting, profitability and CECL), plus newer offerings like Empyrean Reporting: Console and Model IQ. A typical first-year deal is about $50K in annual recurring revenue.
What you bring
Must-haves
You win new business. You have a track record of winning new customers, not mostly managing existing accounts. You can tell us where your deals came from, what your prospecting week looks like and what your numbers were.
Your outreach gets noticed. You research before you reach out, and you use peer wins and each bank's own situation to earn a reply.
You find a way. Software sales comes with challenges, from the product to pricing to the sales process. You've been behind your number, changed your approach and found a way back, and you stay steady under pressure.
You work independently. You run your territory and pull in your manager and the wider team when it makes sense, not on every deal.
You show up prepared. You present clearly and confidently to senior finance leaders and handle tough questions calmly.
You know (or learn fast) how banks buy software. You don't need to be a product expert, just credible with bank buyers.
Nice to have
3+ years of sales experience, ideally selling B2B or fintech software
Experience with risk and performance management solutions like ALM, budgeting, profitability or CECL, on either the software or the banking side
Experience selling complex solutions to the C-suite or bank finance teams
MEDDIC or a similar deal-qualification approach
Why Empyrean
Build a territory and help shape a growing segment
Ramp support while you build your territory
A close team that shares what's working, with low turnover and regular get-togethers
AI tools, including Claude, from day one to speed up decks, proposals and pricing
Benefits: Full-time offers from Empyrean Solutions include PTO, floating holidays, medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), and a variety of additional workplace perks.
