Senior Accountant (Travel Agency)

Human Factor is seeking, on behalf of a client operating in the travel and tourism sector, a Senior Accountant based in Athens.

Key Responsibilities

• Record, review, and reconcile purchase and sales invoices and supporting documentation

• Issue and manage invoices, credit notes, and other accounting documents

• Perform customer, supplier, and bank reconciliations

• Monitor accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, payments, and outstanding balances

• Manage accounting transactions related to travel services, partners, and suppliers

• Collaborate with hotels, airlines, tour operators, DMCs, and other travel industry partners on financial reconciliations and settlements

• Monitor and reconcile bookings, cancellations, credit notes, refunds, and related financial transactions

• Monitor commissions, supplier settlements, and other travel-related financial arrangements

• Support VAT reporting, myDATA submissions, and other tax compliance requirements

• Prepare financial and accounting reports for management

• Support month-end and year-end closing procedures

• Collaborate with external accountants, tax advisors, and auditors when required

• Maintain accurate, complete, and well-organized accounting records

• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and identify discrepancies in a timely manner

• Use accounting software and ERP systems effectively to support daily accounting operations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field

• 3+ years of relevant experience in an organized accounting department

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and tax requirements

• Good knowledge of myDATA and relevant electronic tax procedures

• Good knowledge of MS Excel and accounting/ERP systems

• Good command of English, both written and spoken

• Previous experience in a travel agency, tour operator, DMC, or tourism-related company
