Senior AWS Platform Engineer

DDP Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior AWS Platform Engineer to support a major Australian Government department.

The successful candidate will join an established team responsible for maintaining and enhancing a critical AWS cloud environment supporting enterprise identity and access management services.

Role Details

• Location: ACT, NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, TAS or NT
• Working arrangements: Hybrid
• Contract: 12 months + 2 x 12-month extensions
• Start date: 1 December 2026
• Security clearance: Must be eligible to obtain Baseline

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring security, reliability and availability.
• Administer Amazon EKS and Kubernetes environments, including upgrades, patching and vulnerability remediation.
• Develop infrastructure automation to improve operational efficiency.
• Monitor and optimise cloud performance, capacity and infrastructure costs.
• Maintain monitoring and observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch and Dynatrace.
• Implement AWS security controls, including IAM, IRSA, RBAC, WAF and secrets management.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Argo CD.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, undertake root cause analysis and implement improvements.

Skills and Experience

• Minimum 3 years' experience in AWS cloud infrastructure engineering and operational support.
• Strong experience administering Amazon EKS and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• Sound understanding of AWS security architecture and vulnerability management.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps and automated deployments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience supporting business-critical environments.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across technical and security teams.

Highly Regarded

• Previous Australian Government experience.
• Knowledge of the Information Security Manual (ISM) and Essential Eight.
• AWS or Kubernetes certifications, including AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer or CKA.
