Senior AWS Platform Engineer (EKS / Kubernetes)
Federal Government | 12-month contract + 2 × 12-month extensions | Hybrid, any capital city | Baseline clearance
ASJ Tech is looking for an experienced AWS Platform Engineer to join a Federal Government team running a business-critical identity and access management platform.
You’ll keep a secure, high-performing AWS environment running smoothly, with a strong focus on Amazon EKS and Kubernetes, infrastructure automation and platform security. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys owning production platforms, not just building them.
What you’ll do
- Run and maintain AWS infrastructure for performance, availability, security and reliability.
- Administer Amazon EKS and Kubernetes, including cluster upgrades, node groups, patching and vulnerability remediation.
- Automate operations such as patching, backups and routine tasks to cut manual effort.
- Implement AWS security controls, including IAM, IRSA, RBAC, WAF and secrets management.
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Argo CD.
- Build out monitoring and observability with Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch and Dynatrace.
- Lead incident resolution and root cause analysis, then fix the underlying problem.
What you’ll bring
- 3+ years’ hands-on AWS infrastructure engineering in production environments.
- Strong Amazon EKS and Kubernetes administration experience.
- Solid knowledge of AWS security, including IAM, IRSA, RBAC, WAF and secrets.
- CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps, Argo CD or similar.
- Experience with observability tools and production incident management.
- Clear communication and the ability to work across technical and security teams.
Highly regarded
- Terraform or CloudFormation.
- GitOps practices.
- Australian Government experience, ISM and Essential Eight.
- AWS or Kubernetes certifications such as Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer or CKA.
Key details
- Start date: 1 December 2026
- Contract: 12 months + 2 × 12-month extensions, up to 40 hours per week
- Location: hybrid from any Australian capital city
- Clearance: must be able to obtain Baseline (Australian citizenship required)
