Senior Backend Developer

Assignment description

We are looking for an experienced and team-oriented Software Developer / Cloud DevOps Engineer for the Gamma squad, working with HusqIoT Core and related IoT and connectivity services within Common Services, the services are based on event-driven communication, cloud-native microservices and APIs, with end-to-end responsibility for development, testing, deployment, operations and maintenance. The consultant will contribute primarily as a backend developer using TypeScript/JavaScript and Node.js, with complementary development in Java or Go where needed. The role covers the complete software lifecycle: understanding requirements, designing solutions, writing and reviewing code, testing, CI/CD, deployment, observability, operations and continuous improvement. We are looking for someone who is proactive, quality-driven and comfortable taking ownership within a cross-functional agile team. The person should be passionate about software development, IoT technology, distributed systems and cloud-native platforms, and understand that successful delivery depends on collaboration, knowledge sharing and pragmatic choices.



Tasks:

• Design, develop, test and maintain cloud-native backend services primarily in TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js), with complementary development in Java or Go where needed.
  
• Build scalable, efficient, secure and resilient services for customer-facing digital products and connected devices.
  
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven integrations that enable reliable communication between services and client applications.
  
• Work with distributed microservices, event-based communication and IoT-related technologies, including AMQP brokers and transport protocols such as AMQP, HTTP and gRPC.
  
• Design and implement data solutions using MongoDB, Valkey, SQL databases and AWS RDS, selecting and optimizing storage patterns for the relevant use case.
  
• Develop and operate workloads on AWS using services such as API Gateway, HTTP APIs, WebSocket APIs, NLB/ALB, ElastiCache and RDS. 1 (3)
  
• Work with Kubernetes, preferably EKS, as well as containerized and serverless deployment patterns.
  
• Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code; participate actively in code reviews, automated testing and quality improvement.
  
• Contribute to infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, deployment automation and operational maintenance.
  
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize system performance, reliability, scalability, security, observability and operational quality.
  
• Collaborate with engineers, the Service Architect, Product Owner, Squad Lead and other stakeholders to understand requirements and implement pragmatic technical solutions.
  
• Take ownership of assigned solutions and contribute to architectural improvements, automation, resilience and the reduction of technical debt.
  
• Share knowledge and support colleagues through technical discussions, code reviews and pairing.
  
• Apply AI-assisted development responsibly where it improves quality, learning or delivery speed.
  



Required skills

The consultant should have approximately 5–10+ years of professional experience in backend development or an equivalent level of demonstrated capability in a complex software delivery environment. Required skills are listed in order of importance.
