• Ārahina e te Aronga | Purpose Led – we stay focused on what matters most and the impact we're here to create
• Whakamana Tangata | Powered by People – we uplift our people, farmers and partners
• Kotahitanga | Stronger Together – we believe meaningful change happens through shared effort
• Ka Tūtuki ā Mātou Mahi | We Deliver – we are committed to delivering enduring results

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

We are seeking two Senior Business Analysts on a fixed-term basis for 18 months, to support multiple projects across OSPRI.

Our Senior Business Analysts are part of the Transformation group, leading OSPRI’s change engine and IT platforms, overseeing projects, digital solutions, technology and data enablement.
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will work closely with business units, delivery teams and subject matter experts to understand current processes, identify business needs and define future requirements. Translating your insights into clear requirements, recommendations and fit-for-purpose solutions that support organisational performance and support delivery across business and technology initiatives.

This role reflects Ārahina e te Aronga | Purpose Led, focusing on delivering meaningful outcomes, and Ka Tūtuki ā Mātou Mahi | We Deliver, taking ownership and seeing work through to completion.

What success will look like:

  • Understanding stakeholder needs, identify opportunities, and define future state solutions and impacts on ways of working.
  • Using analysis, stakeholder engagement, and research to develop specifications, user stories, business rules, and system design elements.
  • Facilitating workshops and design sessions to document current state and future state processes.
  • Partnering with subject matter experts and delivery teams to shape fit-for-purpose technology and data solutions.
  • Providing clear, evidence-based advice and recommendations that balance business value, time, and budget.
  • Capturing and mapping benefits, maintain traceability from business need to solution, and support informed decision-making.
  • Supporting change adoption across OSPRI by helping embed new ways of working and realise business benefits.
  • Contributing to improved data quality by identifying issues and supporting the development of business rules and standards.
  • Working collaboratively across teams to deliver projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Living OSPRI’s values daily.

Kōrero mōu - About you
You will thrive on complex problems, engaging with others and getting straight into it. You will be confident working across the full delivery lifecycle, from discovery and design through to testing, implementation and adoption.

You will bring:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst.
  • Experience with API testing / Integration testing and functional testing.
  • Your ability to apply advanced analytical and critical thinking to navigate complex, ambiguous problems.
  • A collaborative working style.
  • Your ability to prioritise tasks relevant to the severity and business impacts.
  • Your ability to see tasks through to completion while managing competing priorities.
  • Working knowledge of business analysis, testing techniques, methodologies, and practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build consensus amongst a group.
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), project management methodologies and Agile projects.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (desirable).
  • GIS experience (desirable for one of the two roles)

In return we offer:

  • A purpose-led organisation where values genuinely guide how we work
  • A supportive, inclusive and collaborative team environment
  • Work that contributes to New Zealand’s biosecurity and farming communities
  • Flexible working options
  • OSPRI days – paid leave between Christmas and New Year
  • Critical Illness, Trauma and Lifecare insurance
  • Wellbeing leave and a paid volunteer day
  • Study assistance and development opportunities
