With over 40 years of experience delivering engineering solutions across the energy sector, our client is hiring a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join its Energy, Utilities and Renewables team. Based in Galway, Portlaoise or Dublin, this permanent role offers a salary of €65,000–€75,000 depending on experience and Chartership status, alongside a bonus, hybrid working and strong career progression opportunities. About Your New Job
As a Senior Civil Design Engineer, you will take responsibility for the design and coordination of civil engineering works across a range of energy and utility infrastructure projects.
You will:
- Lead and deliver civil engineering designs for infrastructure projects across the energy, utilities and renewables sectors.
- Develop designs for site layouts, access roads, foundations, drainage systems and underground services.
- Prepare engineering drawings, design calculations, technical specifications and reports.
- Support projects through planning, preliminary and detailed design, construction and commissioning.
- Coordinate design changes and ensure engineering solutions meet project requirements.
- Apply relevant Irish codes, standards, Eurocodes, building regulations and planning requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients and other project stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance and contribute to the successful delivery of complex engineering projects.
What Skills You Need
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Significant post-graduate experience in civil engineering design, ideally at Senior Engineer level.
- Proven experience taking responsibility for or leading the design of engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of Irish codes and standards, including Eurocodes, BCAR and Irish planning processes and regulations.
- Experience preparing engineering drawings, calculations, specifications and technical reports.
- Experience in site layouts, access roads, foundations, drainage systems and underground services.
- Strong technical design, coordination and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A full clean driving licence and access to transport.
Desirable experience includes:
- Civil design experience within the energy, power generation, gas, water or utilities sectors.
- Experience supporting projects through planning, design, construction and commissioning.
- Chartered Engineer status or progress towards Chartership.
Candidates with strong civil engineering design experience from other industries will also be considered, provided they have the relevant technical expertise and knowledge of Irish codes and standards.
