Senior Cloud Security Engineer

I'm working with an established Brisbane-based business looking to strengthen its cybersecurity team with an experienced Cloud Security Engineer.

This would suit someone who's built a solid career in cybersecurity and has developed strong hands-on experience across cloud infrastructure, security engineering and DevSecOps.

While incident response forms part of the position, this isn't a traditional SOC role. The focus is much more on engineering, automation and continuously improving how security is managed across cloud environments.

What You'll Be Doing

• Working hands-on across cloud environments to improve security, identify weaknesses and implement solutions.
• Building and improving security automation using Infrastructure as Code and modern engineering practices.
• Working with development and infrastructure teams to embed security into existing processes and deployment pipelines.
• Identifying and addressing security risks across cloud platforms, applications and infrastructure.
• Improving the way security events are detected, investigated and managed.
• Supporting incident investigations when required, including troubleshooting, containment and remediation.
• Contributing to a range of technical security projects and improvements.

What We're Looking For

• A strong background in cybersecurity, ideally across security engineering, operations or incident response.
• Solid hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP. Strong Azure experience will also be considered.
• Practical experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience applying DevSecOps principles within cloud environments.
• A good understanding of SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management and security monitoring.
• Someone who's comfortable getting into the technical detail rather than simply identifying issues and passing them on.
• Strong communication skills and someone who enjoys working as part of a team
• Experience working in larger, more complex environments would be beneficial.
