What you'll be doing
As a Sr. Consultant, Investment & Digital Enablement, you will be a strategic voice on the Savings, Investments and Advice team. You will support defining the business intent and outcomes, author business cases, groom roadmaps and initiative-level direction for some of our most complex, highest-impact client journeys, working 1–3 quarters ahead of delivery to ensure our Product Owners always have a business-justified pipeline to execute against. Given the scope of your mandate, you will regularly extend your expertise beyond your home squad, partnering and advising stakeholders and Sr. Executives.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you'll succeed
- Own the business case and roadmap for high-impact initiatives — Lead the development of the squad-level roadmap, business cases and benefit forecasts for highly visible initiatives in the Saving, Investments & Advice domain, ensuring every initiative entering the backlog is grounded in a clear, quantifiable business rationale.
- Lead discovery and business direction — Author and facilitate discovery with your Product Owner & stakeholders, establishing the business direction, journey context and initiative framing that sets the direction for requirements and overall squad success.
- Author Epics that set squads up to win — Defining business objectives, success metrics and scope before a single story is written. Hold the quality bar for Epics across the team.
- Be the senior business voice with stakeholders — Act as the interface between your squads and senior business stakeholders, translating delivery progress into compelling business narratives and representing the squad wherever investment and prioritization decisions are made.
- Own benefit realization — Define KPIs and success metrics at the outset of every initiative, and partner with measurement and analytics teams post-launch to track performance against the original business case.
- Extend your expertise across squads — Provide advisory support to a second squad or initiative as capacity allows, bringing consistency and best practice to business execution planning beyond your home squad.
Who you are
- You can demonstrate experience. 7+ years of experience in leading large, cross-functional, complex initiatives, business analysis, client/ product strategy, or a closely related discipline, ideally within financial services or another regulated environment. You have a proven track record of owning Epics, business cases, or equivalent initiative-level artifacts, and translating them into roadmaps that Product Owners and squads can execute against.
- Your influence makes a difference. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success. You inspire outcomes by sharing your expertise. You distill complex, ambiguous business problems into a clear narrative and business case that earns buy-in from Product Owners, technology partners and senior executives alike.
- You’re an effective communicator. You are an experienced, credible communicator with senior business stakeholders, capable of building and defending a business case at the executive level.
- You bring working knowledge of agile delivery. Proficient with Jira, Epics and Stories, story-writing standards and INVEST principles — and apply it fluently across a multi-squad environment.
- You are a systems thinker. You connect client needs, business objectives and platform capability, and know how to sequence work so today's delivery sets up tomorrow's opportunity.
- You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You communicate detailed information in a meaningful way. You build credibility through the quality of your thinking and the consistency of your judgment rather than a reporting line, and you use that credibility to guide Product Owners and shape team standards.
- You live your values. You bring high standards, genuine care to your relationships, and want to grow with an employer that shares your values and brings out your best.
