This role focuses on customs valuation methodologies, import and export documentation, transaction value analysis, duty calculations, compliance reviews, and valuation risk management. The successful candidate will work remotely with procurement, finance, logistics, trade compliance, and customs brokerage teams to ensure customs valuation practices are consistent with applicable regulations and international trade requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review customs valuation records for imported and exported goods to assess accuracy, completeness, and regulatory consistency.

  • Apply relevant customs valuation methodologies, including transaction value and alternative valuation methods where applicable.
  • Evaluate adjustments to transaction values, including assists, royalties, licence fees, commissions, packing costs, and freight-related charges.
  • Review related-party transactions and assess whether intercompany pricing arrangements require additional customs valuation analysis.
  • Analyse transfer pricing documentation and identify potential differences between customs values and declared transaction prices.
  • Assess valuation implications arising from discounts, rebates, bundled transactions, free-of-charge goods, and post-importation adjustments.
  • Review customs duty calculations and identify discrepancies involving declared values, tariff classifications, origin, and applicable duty rates.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, finance teams, and international trade stakeholders to resolve valuation queries.
  • Maintain valuation workpapers, supporting documentation, decision records, and audit trails.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of customs declarations and valuation practices to identify compliance gaps and potential financial exposure.
  • Prepare customs valuation reports, exception analyses, duty impact assessments, and management summaries.
  • Monitor regulatory developments affecting customs valuation, including relevant World Trade Organization valuation principles and UAE customs requirements.
  • Support internal audits, external reviews, and customs authority information requests by organising supporting evidence and technical explanations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve valuation procedures, documentation standards, and internal control frameworks.
  • Develop valuation guidance, standard operating procedures, and training materials for relevant business and logistics teams.
  • Monitor customs valuation risks associated with new suppliers, sourcing arrangements, business restructurings, and changes in international trade terms.
  • Collaborate with tax, legal, finance, procurement, and compliance teams on complex valuation matters.
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of customs management systems, valuation databases, and trade compliance reporting tools.
  • Escalate material valuation uncertainties, potential misdeclarations, and regulatory exposure to authorised compliance and management personnel.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Customs Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in customs valuation, international trade compliance, import operations, or customs brokerage.
  • Strong understanding of customs valuation principles and internationally recognised valuation methodologies.
  • Practical experience reviewing transaction values, commercial invoices, intercompany transactions, and customs declaration records.
  • Knowledge of valuation adjustments involving royalties, assists, commissions, freight, insurance, and related-party transactions.
  • Familiarity with transfer pricing concepts and their interaction with customs valuation.
  • Understanding of tariff classification, rules of origin, customs duties, and import documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of UAE customs procedures and relevant international trade regulations.
  • Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, importers, exporters, and multinational supply chain teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, customs management platforms, ERP systems, and trade compliance software.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to assess complex transaction structures and valuation documentation.
  • Excellent report-writing, documentation, and stakeholder coordination abilities.
  • High attention to detail and a strong understanding of regulatory compliance and financial controls.
  • Relevant professional certifications in customs compliance, international trade, or supply chain management are an advantage.
What We Offer
  • A fully remote working arrangement based in the UAE.
  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and technical expertise.
  • Opportunities to work with international trade, customs compliance, and valuation processes.
  • Exposure to complex cross-border transactions and customs risk management initiatives.
