Senior Data Engineer (AI/ML & Azure) - Remote - Latin America

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer with a strong AI/ML focus to join a team supporting modern data and AI initiatives for an innovative client. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with Python, Azure Data Factory, Azure Machine Learning, and Microsoft Fabric, combined with a solid understanding of modern data engineering and AI/ML workflows. This is a client-facing role that requires strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts into practical solutions. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of data engineering and emerging AI technologies in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data engineering solutions.
• Develop and manage data workflows using Python and Azure Data Factory.
• Work with Microsoft Fabric to build and support modern data solutions.
• Leverage Azure Machine Learning and related technologies to support AI/ML initiatives.
• Prepare, transform, integrate, and optimize data for analytics, machine learning, and AI use cases.
• Collaborate directly with clients to understand requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Communicate technical concepts, architecture decisions, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Work closely with data scientists, engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver data and AI solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve data pipelines, processes, and AI/ML workflows.

Core Requirements

• Strong professional experience in Data Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory.
• Experience with Azure Machine Learning or similar Azure AI/ML services.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Solid understanding of data pipelines, data transformation, and modern data architectures.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and workflows.
• Experience working directly with clients or other external stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience productionizing machine learning models or AI solutions.
• Experience with additional Azure data and AI services.
• Experience with LLMs, Generative AI, or AI-powered applications.
• Experience in consulting or other client-facing technical environments.

• US Timezone Overlap: 6–7 hours with PST.
• Strong client-facing presence and ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
