Senior Database Consultant

Responsibilities

In this position, individuals plan computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and protection. Individuals will work closely with our Product Centre groups, as well our Cloud Operations team.

• Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries.
• Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls.
• Installs and upgrades database software; creates databases using multiple methods; checks, changes, and analyzes parameters; creates and runs scripts; and performs space and object maintenance.
• Handles the security of the database by managing user permissions.
• Takes physical and logical backups and performs restores using multiple methods.
• Moves objects through servers.
• Checks and ensures database availability.
• Formulates and monitors policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management.
• Proposes and implements enhancements to improve the performance and reliability of the system.
• Has practical knowledge of more than one database system/version.
• Executes troubleshooting and performs performance tuning.
• Requires minimal oversight from management, but still relies on management to remove obstacles or provide business advisement.
• Provides mentoring and leadership to junior staff members as needed.
