The Short Version

You design new pages and store sections, and you build them. You take an idea from Figma to a live, tested page in days. You own the section kit, in Figma and in code, that lets the whole company ship pages without waiting on a developer.

This is a senior, hands-on role with two depths: design and front-end code. You set the standard for how design becomes code at BÆRSkin, and you help a junior Design Engineer grow.

We use AI to design and build faster. You drive the tools and you own the result.

Fully remote, EU or LATAM, with at least four hours of overlap with the team's EU working day.

About Us

BÆRSkin Tactical Supply Co. combines rugged performance with everyday functionality to make the very best outdoor gear. We design apparel that reflects timeless values, resilience and practicality, so anyone can stay prepared and unstoppable, on the trail, in the city or wherever life takes them.

More than a brand, BÆRSkin is a mindset. Our remote-first team spans borders but shares a single focus: building durable, dependable products. Our motto is "Built for the Brave".

We are small and we punch well above our weight technically. Engineering has had zero turnover in four years. We have been shipping AI-written code to production since 2023.

The Role

This is an individual contributor role. Nobody reports to you. You sit in the TECH team, which builds and ships changes to our store and landing pages every week.

The Product Designer decides what a page is for and how it should feel. The creative lead owns the brand rules. Within those, the layout, visual and build decisions for new sections and formats are yours. A Lead Software Engineer owns the architecture and reviews your code with the other engineers. Engineers own checkout logic, data and release. If two teams want different things, the CTO settles it.

We want any team to be able to put an idea live without a developer. We are not fully there yet. The section kit you build is how we get there.

Reporting line: Direct to the CTO.

The title means little. If your CV says Design Engineer, Creative Developer, Front-end Designer, Web Designer or UI Engineer, and you design and build pages that go live, apply.

What Will You Do?

  • Design and build new formats. Turn a hypothesis or a Product Designer brief into a new landing page, store section or offer format, in Figma and in code. Try formats nobody has tried.

  • Own the section kit. Build and keep up the library of sections in Figma and in code. Every winning pattern becomes a section that anyone can reuse.

  • Ship variants fast. Get test variants live in days, behind a flag and on part of the traffic, so a losing variant never hurts the store.

  • Set the bar. Define how design becomes code: tokens, components, responsive rules and review standards. Review and coach the junior Design Engineer.

  • Design and build accessibly. Meet WCAG 2.1 AA in design and in code: semantic HTML, contrast, focus states, keyboard use, labels and alt text. Accessibility is part of done.

  • Ship with AI. Use AI to generate layouts, code and asset variations. Read what it gives you and fix it before review. Keep customer data out of unapproved tools.

Our Stack

Figma, HTML, CSS, Tailwind, React and Next.js on Vercel, our in-house tools for AI-generated landing pages, PostHog, GitHub and Linear.

Our AI tooling includes Claude, Codex and Figma AI.

You do not need to know every tool. A strong eye, clean front-end code and the ability to learn matter more than matching the list.

Skills & Qualifications

At least five years designing and building for the web, with live work you designed and coded yourself.

Essential

  • Agency or high-performance team experience. You have shipped in a digital agency, an ecommerce studio or a fast product team, with real deadlines.

  • Strong layout, typography and visual hierarchy. Your portfolio shows taste.

  • Ecommerce or marketing pages. You have designed and shipped landing pages, store pages or campaign pages that moved a number.

  • Production front-end code. Semantic HTML, modern CSS and React in production.

  • A design system or section kit you built and kept up, in Figma and in code.

  • Figma at a high level, with components, variables, auto layout and variants.

  • Accessibility in design and code. You know WCAG 2.1 AA and can explain how you test it.

  • Git and code review. You open clean pull requests and review other people's code.

  • A working AI practice for design and code. Walk us through a recent example, including what the AI got wrong and what you fixed.

  • English at B2/C1 minimum.

  • Four hours of overlap with the team's EU working day.

Desirable

  • Tailwind and Next.js.

  • A/B testing with PostHog or a similar tool.

  • Motion and interaction design for the web.

  • Mentoring a junior designer or developer.

  • Outdoor, apparel or tactical brand experience.

  • Portuguese, because most of the team is currently based in Brazil.

How You Work

  • Fast. You ship many good pages, not one perfect one.

  • Precise. You check spacing, contrast and mobile layout before you share.

  • Pragmatic. You love results, not your own designs. A losing variant is a lesson, not a loss.

  • Proactive. You find the next idea in the data and act on it, without waiting for a brief.

  • Brand-minded. You protect the brand, even on a tight deadline.

  • Hands-on. You can point to pages you designed and built in the last 90 days.

  • Direct. You say when a brief does not work.

  • Coachable. You take feedback and something actually changes.

How We Work

Remote-first and async-first, with agreed overlap for collaboration. We measure outcomes, not hours.

We keep process light. Decisions sit close to the work and the best-supported argument wins. Independence comes with peer review and access to help. Ask for it before a small problem becomes an expensive one.

Feedback is direct. We expect people to explain their decisions and change their minds when the evidence changes. When things break, we run blameless post-mortems and fix the underlying problem.

This Role Won't Suit You If

  • You only design and never touch code.

  • You only code and do not care how it looks.

  • You need a week for every page.

  • You get attached to a design after the numbers say it lost.

  • You see brand rules as a limit on your creativity.

  • You ignore accessibility when it clashes with a visual idea.

  • You want to own checkout logic or the backend. Those are other roles.

  • Your experience is mostly large enterprise with slow release cycles.

  • You ship AI-generated code you cannot read or change yourself.

What's In It For You?

  • Fully remote

  • Competitive salary with regular performance reviews

  • 26 days paid leave

  • Parental leave

  • Training budget

  • Genuinely strong colleagues, and no layers between you and the decisions

  • Your work live on the store within days

What's Next?

Apply here with a CV and a portfolio link. Include at least one live page and one repository or code sample you built yourself. A cover letter is optional. If you write one, tell us about a section or format you designed and built, how long it took, and what it did for the numbers.

FAQ

How long is the contract? Full-time permanent with a 6-month trial period. We are looking for long-term team members, not short-term contractors.

What is the interview process?

  1. Screening call, 15-30 minutes. Location, overlap, availability and English.

  2. Portfolio interview, 60 minutes. Walk us through a page from Figma to live, and a system you built.

  3. Practical exercise, 2 hours live. You design and build one section.

  4. Panel interview, 60 minutes, with the Product Designer, a Lead Software Engineer and the CTO.

What is your AI policy in this process? AI is expected during the practical exercise. Use the provided tool or another agreed tool within the exercise's data-handling rules. You are responsible for explaining and validating what it produces. A human reads every application. We do not use AI to screen applications. We judge application materials by the specific evidence they provide, not by guesses about how they were written.

Will I get feedback if I am not selected? Once you have interviewed with us, feedback is available on request. We cannot give individual feedback on applications rejected before interviews.

Do you work with recruiters? No. We run our own hiring. Please do not contact us with recruiting services.

Equal Opportunity

BÆRSkin Tactical Supply Co. / Div Brands is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and evaluate people on skills, qualifications and ability to do the job. If you need an accommodation during the application or interview process, tell us.
